Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

You know about the battery terminal cleaning trick, right? Mix a little baking soda with water (before you do your engine cleaning) and get an old toothbrush. Remove the connections to the battery and scrub the posts and connectors down really well with the solution. The longer the solution sits on the corrosion, the easier it'll be to scrub clean. That'll get rid of all that nasty, white residue and improve your connection. Then put everything back and spray it with battery terminal protector you can get at any local automotive joint. That corrosion is nasty. Wear gloves brother...

Thanks for the tip. I'll make sure to do that first before I start the engine cleaning.

Yeah it was pretty nasty in there. lol

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

i dont know why more MFGs dont put the battery in trunk or in our case under floor in back. my wifes 300 has the original mopar battery from 06 and its in the trunks my the spare tire and there is not one lick of corrosion on it at all. seems to me keeping the battery out of the elements keeps it healthier and lasts longer.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

I dunno. Possibly cheaper overall due to less wire?

My dad had one of his old Jeep's battery moved to the rear. He loved it but said it was the biggest pain to do.

As well, I just turned 134,000 yesterday. I've put approx 43,000 on mine since I get it Dec 09.

I agree. I think a lot of the German mfg's do that, but I'm not sure. Even if it was under the hood, but in a sealed box or something. The crap they put on the roads destroys friggin everything. I bet this isn't an issue in warmer climates.
