Its 2.5" in and out. I'm not sure about other years but on mine with the 3rd "main" cat the cat has 2.5" pipe in and 2.25" out, I think newer models that dont have the main cat are 2.5 all the way back. So I'm gonna cut off just before that cat, insert an open pipe from there to the muffler, then I have a 2.5" tail pipe with a stainless tip coming too. Thankfully my current muffler is fully rusted to the in pipe, I noticed a while ago that the clamp rusted off on one side and just free spins around on the pipe now. Friggin winter chemicals.

PS It's a Magnaflow 12586 if anyone is interested, I got the tip on that one from Tony.

Debating one myself. The factory exhaust on mine looks great since it spent life before me in Florida.

Your set up sounds different compared to mine...but I think you'll love this muffler. Best one I've ever bought and I've bought quite a few in my day. The 4.7 should have come with this from the factory.

Being an 04 I don't think yours came with the 3rd cat right? 2.5" pipe all the way back?

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Correct....2 cats. One off of each manifold, into one pipe that runs all the way back to the single muffler.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

From my understanding that was a 2004 design change, the 99-03 V8's have a 3rd main cat with 2.25" pipe from there through the rest of the system. I'm looking forward to seeing how different it will be.

I want to do a Kolak 3" system but the muffler that you and Tony have might have to do. Maybe Santa can bring me one for Christmas... LOL

The first cat back I installed on my jeep was a magnaflow. I liked it, not too loud but had a good sound.

I had a magnaflow on the Ram with the 4.7. It sounded awesome. I do miss that about the truck.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Well, got the stabilizer on...but the tie rod end and I did not get along. After about 2 hours of fighting with it, I finally got it to turn only to find out that the threads on the drag link are now effed up somehow. Put it all back together for now...will be ordering a new drag link on monday and probably the other rod end that mounts to the pitman arm. Might as well replace everything at this point...dammit.
