Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Yup. I'll be posting pics and before/afters once I get it. Nothing has arrived yet but should be here pretty soon. I probably won't be able to get to doing it till next week as finals week starts on Tuesday and I'll be studying (or playing Halo lol) this weekend.

Edit: To you guys running CCFL halos, one of my halo's work intermittently. Sometimes it lights up, sometimes it doesn't. Any ideas? It's in the FL headlight, right side.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Next thing I plan on doing to the WJ?? Hmmmm.. I have fallen in love with the eagle eye led tail lights. So I am sure when the holidays roll around I will be spending money on those. Working on a lift/level idea so i can fit my 245's without rubbing. But dont want to do a full 2.5 lift. Maybe a 2"bb in the front and a 1"bb in the rear. I drive 160 miles a day so I am not looking to jack it up and wheel it until I close this project and dont have to drive so far to work. Also, trying to figure out if I want to do the addco sway bars or sct programmer for my next "big" buy.

I run 245s with a 2" BB and no rubbing issues.

Do the addco sway bars. What's the point in gettin tuned if the Jeep won't be able to manuver.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Good point about the tune, but I am also looking at it for a little MPG help.Since I drive a lot everyday every little bit helps. Does the rear sway bar make a big difference on its own? I'd be willing to buy the rear (~$130), but the front is the one I am having trouble biting the bullet on (~$250). I have the 17's on my limited. So I think the backpacking is making it a little funky. I definitely rub.... Didn't think I would, but I do. I don't want to trim this vehicle. So I am going to go with a lift/level set up. I had an old explorer I trimmed often, so I am trying to do the Jeep right.

The rear sway bar definitely makes a big difference on its own, the rear bar is the biggest size change. The front ties it all together, but the rear is good on its own. I didn't see a big increase in mileage withe my Superchips tuner, but the performance tune increases power without reducing mileage any.

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Today, the snow mod:

Saturday, the exhaust finally went in! I cut off the old tail pipe, muffler, and 3rd cat. Then added about 24" of straight pipe, a magnaflow 12586 stainless muffler, and walker 55044 tail pipe with polished stainless tip. The install went well, although the tail pipe was crap. The hanger bracket was turned 90 degrees from the stock one, so it had to be bent back to get it on. Then, it had to be welded to the muffler, it was a little too small compared to the muffler outlet so a clamp wouldn't tighten enough.

The sound on this is awesome! Just what I was looking for, a nice little rumble at idle, good sound when I put my foot in it, and no drone cruising down the highway. I've only put 50 miles on it so far but I'm loving the sound. Enjoy the pics and sound!

The muffler:

Rusted out crap:

Bending the bracket:

The "new cat" :

Pardon the dirty Jeep, but it is winter here after all . Had some fun with the Jeep at the lake parking lot today, it whips around nicely in 6"+ of fresh snow. As for my newish Falken Rocky Mountain ATS tires, they are no BFG All Terrains, but they do pretty well in the snow. They clean out well and hook up nicely in the snow. Jeep on!

Re: What are you doing to your WJ next?

Give that muffler 1000 miles and some heat cycles and it will sound even better. When it passes me on the road I know it was my old truck due to the sound. The Magnaflow I installed on the 4.7 powered 2006 Ram QC 4x4 sounded best after a 3000 mile trip with the last 1700 pulling a car on a trailer and the trans in tow/haul or OD off on the interstate. That trip proved the 4.7 has what it takes.
