I can't believe that there wasn't really any protection in the lower fascia area from the factory. One stone into those fins and you're screwed!

What wire mesh to get for grill mod

I used the gutter guard stuff but I couldn't find it tall enough to do one sheet across the entire grille. I did a lot more work that I should have and did vertical sheets of it and zip tied them together. They fit between the chrome grill and the bars that the black grille sat on top of. I didn't cut the black insert I just took it completely out

Trim off the fins on the black plastic and mold it to the front piece and use the remaining black plastic to sandwich it tight. I also added a liberal amount of epoxy to make sure it could withstand a decent hit from a rock or bird.

Re: What wire mesh to get for grill mod

Has anyone here tried every making your own grille design/format out of a woven or welded wire mesh material? Something like this: Custom Wire Cloth - Belleville Wire Cloth Co - Cedar Grove, NJ woven or welded. I have been toying with the idea for a few years now so I went down to Home Depot and scooped up a small piece of this stuff on the cheap - so difficult to cut. I eventually settle on some Wiss Snips, but the stuff is really tough to work with. Just wondering if anyone here has or ever tried to build your own...
