05 WK 5.7L Exhaust mods

Hi all, I'm the proud owner of a "brand new" 05 GC Limited. So far, I love it, but the stock exhaust sounds pretty subdued for a V-8. I'd like to get a throatier note and more power (wouldn't we all), but as a family man, I have to avoid spending a ton of money (the bed is far more comfortable than the couch, lol).
I've heard of later models swapping out for the SRT8 dual exhaust system and I'm wondering if that's possible for the '05 models or not. I'd prefer to keep my spare tire and avoid welding so I can do it myself.
I've also heard that Gibson catbacks make good sound, and that with a tuner, the new shift points result in better sound as well. I just really like the look of dual exhaust tips peeking out from under the bumper, whispering sweet sounds of Detroit muscle.
Thoughts? Recommendations?
Thanks in advance!

Re: 05 WK 5.7L Exhaust mods

My first thought was to swap out the stock muffler for a Flowmaster Super 44 and leave the resonator, to see what it sounds like. But yes, once I get a Diablisport Intune i1000, turning off the MDS will be my first priority.
Would you recommend going ahead and deleting the reso while it's up on the lift?

I live in commie Connecticut, and have to get emissions tested every two years. Deleting the cats is not an option, sadly. 😞
