That's awesome then!

Now comes the question of CO2 sensors, how would you deal with those? Would you try a sparkplug nonfouler or what? ... i know for the e46 sedan you can buy a little electronic circuit board that tricks the ECU .. what would we jeepers do? There's no visual inspection/smog where I live, but they scan the ECU for emmissions related codes.

here is a link to one i found online...
http://www.ffcars.com/forums/34-othe...ter-miata.html

Many people do V8 swaps in these cars. Flyin' Miata teamed up with V8roadsters to bring a really well engineered LSx kit to the market. They're actually a pretty straightforward swap. Gay/crappy car? Not really. It's all about the owners. I had a '95 R-package(club racing package, no power accessories, special suspension, torsen diff, etc) a couple years back that was banging on 14's in the quarter, had crazy amounts of grip, and was one of the most fun and easy to work on car's I've ever owned. I even have a few trophies for SCCA autocross in my old region. Best part is, it was nearly bone stock and I beat the living shit out of it day in and day out, delivering pizzas, racing it at the track/autox every chance I could get, and still got 30mpg on average. Go to a local autocross and snag a ride in one, or find someone local who has one that's not all beat to shit and ragged out, and you'll shit yourself at how much fun they are. There's a reason they're the most frequently raced vehicle in the WORLD. There's a shitton of forced induction systems out there for the 4-cylinder that comes stock, you can fit massive(comparitively) wheels and tires under them, and there's some really hard-core parts for them. I'd own another one in a heartbeat if I could get more than 4 months of weekend use out of it and knew I wouldn't just blow all my money building it into a completely street unfriendly animal. Mazda engineers didn't design the car to be some froo-froo secretary car, it's actually a very well designed, extremely light weight, minimum size, sports car.

Re: 4.7 V8 Best Mufflers headers

Yes everybody. You can make any engine fit any car "IF" you have the tools, know how and fab skills to make it happen!!!!!

You think a company is going to sell headers for a Jeep that takes modifications for them to be installed? Get real. They will have a hard enough time selling a high quality header to the Jeep crowd even if it is flawless and fits perfectly.

Part of the problem for us is the difference between the two sides, The tight fit AND the fact we have cats made into the Y pipe which would cause emissions issues for some. So the header has to be emissions exempt or has to be sold only to those who don't have to worry about issues. Which if i am thinking correctly NO one can remove a catalytic convertor in any of the 50 states.

I thought they were gay cars too until I went to a few autoX events locally. They're friggen awesome .. I want a second vehicle, and I'm stuck between a bike and a miata. They are sick! I know of a few guys that DD high end cars (porsche's, evo's etc.) and they all autoX their miatas lol .. anyways... OT lol

I can't stress how badly I want a miata .. I'd do all the ghetto mods I'm too wimpy to do on my jeep, and I'd autoX every chance I got.

Oohh you can remove it. Now the Legality of that is another story.

I want some low profile headers, but they flow better. ANYTHING has to be better than stock.

Re: 4.7 V8 Best Mufflers headers

Also, I'd pick up a set of mid-length or long tubes if the price is right. I'm not about to pay $1000 for some headers on a friggin' jeep. $600 is much more reasonable. If I wasn't planning a trip with my girlfriend in the summer, I'd bite the bullet and order a set to try to get them to work any way possible.

Re: 4.7 V8 Best Mufflers headers

There are a lot of cheap azz Jeepers...no doubt about it. BUT, there are a lot of cheap azz drivers in general. Of all the makes and all the models, I would think that Jeep is one of the more modded brands out there strictly due to the off-road crowd. Not too many folks putting winches and skids on a Ford Taurus or a Honda CRV. It is a shame that there aren't headers out there for these motors...with the exception of the SRT and maybe a few others, all Jeeps are built with the capability of being off-roaded. That alone is reason (in my opinion) to build and offer power adders like headers. Everything else is there...the cat-back kits, the FIPK's, all that crap...

But hey, I'm not the guy putting my neck on the line to invest the time and materials to make a few pilot headers to see how they sell. I get both sides of the arguement. I wonder how much more/less room a Dakota has under the hood. These could be marketable to a large group if designed right out of the gate. The 4.7 is popular enough...
