Re: 4.7 V8 friends---step in..lets talk performance

I think i am the only lifted guy here! LOL
To be honest, i love wheeling but i hate the damage and the fact that i have replaced my entire IFS system, radiator, 3 exhaust's, 2 brake lines, mopar skid plates, 2 door lites, and plenty of rock damage, not to mention having it towed 3 hrs away!
I don't plan on wheeling it anymore and hoping to repair and rebuilt everything back to spec. I will officially be a street machine with sexy 33's! Lol
Love this forum!

Re: 4.7 V8 friends---step in..lets talk performance

Back on topic... We have been working with ATI to bring the first ever 4.7L performance Harmonic balancer/damper to the 4.7L community. You will see a performance damper on EVERY performance race engine built... for good reason. They protect the engine from ripping itself apart.

The crankshaft is the part of the engine that converts the up and down motion of the pistons and connecting rods during the combustion cycle into rotary motion that spins the transmission and the vehicle’s drive wheels. Every time a cylinder fires, the force twists the crankshaft. When the cylinder stops firing the force ceases to act and the crankshaft starts to return to the untwisted position. However, the crankshaft will overshoot and begin to twist in the opposite direction, and then back again. Eventually the crankshaft will experience torsional vibration which can cause it to fail after some time.
In order to keep this problem from occurring, installing a harmonic balancer for your vehicle is necessary.

We where able to strike a deal with ATI and bring the first ever high performance underdrive pulley. for the 4.7L engine...

Re: 4.7 V8 friends---step in..lets talk performance

How is the install of this? Not the removing of the old one so much as the reinstall of this and setting it up properly, vs reinstalling a stock unit.

Re: 4.7 V8 friends---step in..lets talk performance

You may need to remove the radiator... That's not such a big job... at least it should not be. I know it takes about 15-20minutes to remove the radiator on my 2002 Ram... there is not much too it at all.

Re: 4.7 V8 friends---step in..lets talk performance

I do not know how many 4.7 Jeep owners have done this mod yet (I know of some Dodge owners that have) but I recently got the 2008 intake manifold and TBA adapters from Air Ram... can't wait to get this thing on my Jeep and get it tuned. Spent a good portion of the weekend painting it midnight blue to match my exterior - hat tip to Scottina06 for some helpful advice and my dad for his help (he's literally a pro at this sort of stuff) - but it came out amazing, I don't even think these pics do it justice (a little bit too bright outside where I took some of them, the metallic effects are a little washed out):

Can't wait to get this installed / tuned / etc...

Re: 4.7 V8 friends---step in..lets talk performance

There is a bung on the back of it that will hit the PCV valve i think. Scott tried to do it can could not get it to fit even after trimming it.
