I have been looking around and have heard alot of talk about headers that may work for the WK but not alot of feedback on what happened. I know a few have had LT's made for the hemi but I am not looking to go that route. Has anyone had success with any shorty's?

thanks

Install was a bit of a bitch.... pass side exhaust flange did make contact with part of trans bellhousing but a little trim with the reciprocating saw and all was good. bellhousing part was not used so no harm done at all. Driver side I had to whack what appeared to be the left side engine mount for another engine other than the hemi... no harm there either unless you want to convert to the deisel?? the rest just bolted in and the mounting brackets are avail at the dealer. I have the trailer tow pkg so i had room for the chrome exhaust tips out the back. Some of the heat shields may not quite fit properly but it looks fine...... A little drone at about 1,800rpm but it sounds beefy..... especially when you get on it! Black WK Limited with chrome clad wheels and a self added R/T emblem under the HEMI callout on the back hatch keeps the ricer boys a bit confused and not willing too willing to put me to the test! I do have a set of springs from an SRT8 as well that I have not installed yet. The jeep is sitting a bit high in the back now due to the weight of the full size spare that i removed. I am planning on getting a small space saver and keeping it in the back. No more towing for me and off-roading is not my bag.

I also just about sliced the end of my middle finger off on the super sharp head gasket trying to get the driver side header on and finally got it by grabbing it tight and firmly putting it in position.... That damn gasket is very thin and sharp as a knife.... hurt like a motha and I should have had it stitched up but I manned up with a band aid and neosporin and finished the job by myself. Fiance freaked when I rushed into the house with blood all over my hand and said I was crazy to do this stupid car stuff! Maybe she is right, I'm getting too old for this...... I would say that the stock SRT8 headers and exhaust is an optimum setup for a mostly stock 5.7. I am more than pleased with how this engine responded to these bolt on changes... Astounded is more like it! TBF

I think they will work just fine but the port opening is larger than the exhaust port window on the pre-09 5.7 heads. I have put many a header on a car that had a much larger pipe than the port so i would say it is not an issue. I have not dynoed my combo but I ran a 14.20 @97mph with a CAI and pred tune. I have no baseline run of a stock 09 Grand cherokee but it runs way harder than it did when stock. Let the hemi breathe and it will make power!! Stock log manifolds are horribly restrictive.....
