Re: 5.7L American Racing Headers!

Great following along on this, after wading through years of past inquiries on various boards! I fear the cost a bit, and need an install thread with some pics before I can have a shot at it myself, or at convincing a shop to undertake it. Without massive potential price padding, at least. Those are terrific, curves are tough. Now for the equal length paired cylinder version! Just kidding, but it is too bad that the promise for before/after dyno seems to have gone by the wayside.

Re: 5.7L American Racing Headers!

Anyone have any updates on this? It is still not on their website. Curious if anyone knows the cost yet.

Anyone installed them yet?

Re: 5.7L American Racing Headers!

For those interested, I received word from Nick that the system with cats would be in the $1600 range. I still don't know if I am willing to try the install myself

Did he mention how much more to install?

Re: 5.7L American Racing Headers!

All he said was that the install was similar to the SRT8 install. It is a tight space to work in and being how rusted the rest of my Jeep is, I can only imagine my factory exhaust would not come off so easily.

Re: 5.7L American Racing Headers!

I know when ARH (Nick) installed mine the passenger side was a breeze. But it's the driver side that was a pain in the ass. I know for install he undid the motor mount for fitment.

And it's the exact for as a jeep srt8 same exact steps.

And by the way. I love them!! They sound so sick way better the a jeep srt8 with a BORLA.

Re: 5.7L American Racing Headers!

ARH doesn't appear to have install instructions on their website. I was going off of a youtube video I watched. Seemed like a lot needed to be removed to get the headers in there.

Also, did you need a tune after? All I have is a flashpaq.

Re: 5.7L American Racing Headers!

No you don't need a tune rite after. But to get the full 100% of the headers I would get a custom tune. Which I have.

You should post a video so we can see how it sounds.

Re: 5.7L American Racing Headers!

Nick, there has been some talk recently about passing emissions with long tubes since the cat is moved from the OEM position. I know earlier you stated you had not gotten any CEL lights. Since then, have you gotten any CEL lights? I would be a huge help if you could follow the instructions below for the community to see if it is likely that we will pass an OBDII emissions test.

** Here is key/EVIC procedure to follow BEFORE you take your vehicle in for an emissions check. I believe this procedure works on all late model Chrysler vehicles??

1. Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position without cranking or starting the engine.
2. When the key is turned to the "ON" position your little MI Light (the little engine symbol on the dash) will illuminate. This is just a bulb test to insure it is working properly.
3. After about 15 seconds, one of two things will happen:
----The MIL will flash for a number of seconds and then go back to a constantly "ON" state until you either start the engine or shut the key off. The flashing light indicates that the Emissions Readiness Monitors are NOT READY and you would fail the emissions inspection.
----The MIL will NOT flash and will stay on continuously until the engine is either started or the key is shut off. This means that all of the Emissions Readiness Monitors are set to "ready" and the vehicle is ready for testing.
