Re: AFE Intake CAI 5.7

Unless these so call CAI intakes include some sort of cooler too, they simply can't provide air to the intake that is any colder than the ambient air temps.

My guess is, if the much praised BWoody intake placed the IAT sensor near where it is on the others like the Mopar, the temps would be near identical. Might be wrong about that though. Still, if my intake air is but a degree or two higher than the ambient air temp when cruising along in the WK, I am more than satisfied with the additional air flow. If every I decide to return to running the 1/4 mile, I'll just bring along a lot of ice to place on the tube while waiting to launch .......

I know! LOL

The 4inch BWoody does move the sensor though...But once again, I know what you are saying!

Re: AFE Intake CAI 5.7

Had my AFE stage II intake for 3 years and it has increased mpg by about 1.5 in addition to adding noticable hp.

I also have seen my mpg go up too. Well with it being so hot this summer this intake and a 180 tsat have made my jeep feel like fall and winter throttle feeling. I was going to get a tuner next but I think I will wait since I like the way my jeep feels.

Re: AFE Intake CAI 5.7

An intake alone won't get you an extra 18hp. Add a tune that takes advantage of the added air flow and you might see an increase in hp. As far as increasing both hp and mileage at the same time? Without hard data to back such a claim up, I'll remain somewhat skeptical.

Oh no I totally believe you, it just says youll get 18 hp on their website....

That kind of info is misleading but I already knew there is no chance you would get 18hp gain

Re: AFE Intake CAI 5.7

There are gains, just at high rpm. Unlikely you'll be at that high rpm often.

There are dyno sheets proving this as well. Mostly K&N will have them listed with the item.

I did gain mpg and power when I got the intake. More so after bored and ported throttle body with superchips tune.
