ok guys here is the deal. This can be done if you already have the k+n intake or if you have the stock air tube and want to get rid of your air res box...

go to your local stealership and ask then for part number : 53013907AB (tube from 09 liberty cost $35)

The wire for the IAT sensor is not long enough. You also want to use the sensor from your jeep not the one that comes with the new tube.

you can use 18 gauge wires and solder them to make an extension for the plug.(pics to come when i actually do this)

marlon was the first person on this site to do it that i am aware of. People with nitro's and liberty's also do this to get rid of the air res. i did not come up with this idea.

edit: i am also thinking of getting a piece of tubing to replace the accordion style pipe in-between the k+n pipe and the liberty tube

I am adding my k+n short ram intake today and will hopefully have this installed as well...

I bought a CAI for a dodge truck with a 3.7. Some cutting got it to fit. looked nice, but the tubing got hot. I figured I was probably doing more harm than good.

I later invested in a K&N panel filter

actually after doing a little research, I plan on doing the same thing. I dont like how the liberty tube gets so narrow and also the accordion part cant be good for flow. my only concern is milling the hole for the sensor. I need to take a closer look at the stock setup and see how complicated it will be.

LMAO! I wasnt really gonna run PVC.......but I was gonna use intake piping from a universal kit, like one of the ones Airaid offers, to construct my own.

But as I was browsing Airaid's website, I think I am going to just completely swap out the entire K&N kit for there complete kit. They utiliize the bottom part of the stock airbox, which I think is actually the better way to go to get maximum airflow from the grill. And most importantly, their intake tube goes all the way to the TB.

Nicks writeup was for an 05-06...07+ should be self explanatory, if you want to do what he did, buy a roll if header wrap, soak and squeeze it in a bowl of water so that all of the air bubbles come out of it, and wrap the tube as tight as you can...the more overlap the better, although it will require more wrap. When it dries it will be a very tightly wound layer of insulation.

IIRC doesnt the liberty tube have a section that has ribs on it? I think i remember you getting it for cheap so I wouldnt sweat it if you already have it...elbows are expensive.

What diameter is it? If its not 3" round or equivalent I wouldnt put it on...

not to threadjack sorry
but, i was thinkin about putting in a cai but im not sure if i should pull the trigger or not, i have a completely stock setup 2006 3.7L no exhaust mods or tuners or anything, would doin a mod like this really increase horsepower or is it all just to get me to buy their crap, then if it is all true what is the best setup usin the liberty pipes, airaid, or k & n? im so confused haha

airraid doesn't fit. k+n can be bought cheap now a days for our setup. it helps a little. its more butt hp than anything. i also have a muffler installed to help with air flow (the full exhaust setup from magnaflow uses the same pipe size and routing so why bother with it!)
