I do know that the manual states an octane level of gasoline we should be putting in our tanks... I wouldn't stray to far from that.
You are aware that, due to the absolute moronic idiocy of the average American auto owner, cars are severely detuned. There is a LOT of room for improvement.

Until I moved to Korea, I was about to experiment with something I had learned about fuel additives. Not sure I can do the same experiment here.

Benefits of the Fitch Fuel Catalyst:
  • 5-12% fuel savings right away
With a inline fuel canister? That does what exactly? Maybe restricts fuel so you get better mpg?
  • Instant and permanent treatment
How? What is it doing?
  • Lowers emissions for cleaner air
How? What is it doing?
  • Less maintenance and oil changes
How? What is it doing? Less oil changes and less maintenancefrom putting a canister in your fuel system makes no sense?
  • Improves gas Octane and Cetane
How? What is this adding to your fuel if anything? Chemical reaction?
  • Increases horsepower, and torque
How?
  • Keeps fuel fresh during storage
Not going to happen!
  • Suppresses increase in fuel temperature
How? Cryogenic reaction...lol.
  • Installs in fuel line, or in the fuel tank
  • Maintenance-free, 250K-mile warranty
Sure does, cause it does nothing!
Scam Bro don't do it.
Dammit! Why'd you have to go and ruin it by asking legitimate questions!?

Re: Another Fuel Gimmick? Or Legit?

You might have heard about it. Many mechanics and engineers swear by it, including a close, personal race mechanic I've known for over 15 years.

100% acetone.

You HAVE to use low ethanol/ethanol free gas(hard to find), and it HAS to be 100% acetone(available at most beauty supply shops) and the ratio changes depending on engine size and performance upgrades, but generally 3-4 ounces per 10 gallons is said to have a HUUUUUUUUUGE positve effect on mileage with no adverse effect to performance.

I repeat, it only works with low ethanol/ethanol free gas, and the acetone at Wal-Mart is NOT 100%(last I checked).

Re: Another Fuel Gimmick? Or Legit?

Google it. There are a shyt-ton of positive reviews about it, and genrally the only detractors are the oil/gas industry. Not surprising since it means you buy less from them.

Re: Another Fuel Gimmick? Or Legit?

ACTUALLY-there has been some tests done on the fitch equipment, including a dyno test, by a show on Spike called "Horsepower". Now, were they paid to make up good results? We'll never know. But in the 10 or so years the show has been on the air, and i've been watching, they have had both good and bad things to say about alot of products. Their test results only showed a very slight reduction (about 2%) in fuel consumption and about the same lowering of harmful emissions. Slight gain in power, but only in the range of a couple of ponies on a 350hp engine. Octane rating-not tested. Yes it worked but not near the numbers they promise.

Manufacturers purposely don't try to make their cars fuel efficient...?
