Badlanz E-cutout

Have any of you heard anything about the Badlanz cutout? Good or bad? I know Milous has one from DMH and after seeing his, I'm kind of hooked. Any suggestions? DMH VS. Badlanz? Thanks in advance for your help.

PS- They are both comparable in price.

Re: Badlanz E-cutout

Thanks HemiJon. Hey do you still have it? Any problems? I plan on getting one just because it seems like the best of both worlds! Right now I have the magnaflow cat-back and it sounds good but I've been thinking about chopping off the reso. But with this set-up I don't have to, right? Anyway, did you weld yours or can you just slip it on and put a band clamp? Also did you put it between your muffler and cat? I read on other forums that they're putting them before the cats. Me personally, I think I'll put it between the muffler and cat. Thanks again for the info!

Re: Badlanz E-cutout

mine was welded in,

the only issue i ever had with it was a slight black carbon build up in the door of it that slowed it down while opening/closing, a simple spray of brake clean cleaned it all off and no further issues.

Re: Badlanz E-cutout

I have gone through a few in my VW GTI. I asked the exhaust guy to set up my Jeep for the same thing and the numbnutz screwed it up, so I can't comment too much.

I like the build and customer service of the Badlandz, but the valve design makes a lot more noise compared to the QTP. Both have rattled apart at the electric motor.

Hope you are doing it for the sound. My GTI is turboed and I gained a few horses on the low end but lost in the high end. I imagine aNA engine would just get a change in its curve

Re: Badlanz E-cutout

I got a DMH in my WJ right now and it's being sent back under warranty. Cutouts, regardless of brand, will break and will need to be replaced (sooner or later) so warranty should be a big consideration for you.

what broke? mine only ever slowed down, i hit it with carb cleaner and let dry and it knocked the soot build up off and works perfect now.

I know they will break it you hold the switch to long. For a longer life you need to follow the 8 second rule.

Mine is totally broken now and sitting in my garage. DMH won't respond to my emails and whenever I give 'em a call the line is busy, frustration.

The motor stopped functioning, i used a multimeter and hooked it upto it and it was reading a resistance of 0 across it so I'm assuming the motor is completely gone. I followed the 4 second rule! and it still randomly broke. I left it completely open one day when I was driving to school (its ontop of a mountain) and I was going pretty hard on the skinny pedal on my way up. Handed in my assignment, got back to my jeep and started her up, and it took forever for the cutout to close. Since then it won't open, but all my electrics are in check, and I'm reading +12 and -12 depending on switch position just before the cutout. Sigh /end rant lol

Re: Badlanz E-cutout

I'm thinking I'm going to get the Badlanz... if anything it's because I like the owner, Charles' reputation for good customer service. I exchanged emails with Charles' and he was very helpful and was quick to respond. Thanks for all the info guys!
