North side of 60 now. Have been 4x4ing since the mid 70's, Started out with a Dodge Power Wagon, then had a few Ford Bronco II's, and just sold my Ford F 150 4x4 because bad knees and shifting gears and constant abuse with stop and go traffic, it was near impossible to make it up 2 flights of stairs when I managed to get home from a trip into town.

I fell in love with the GC a few years ago when our oldest son whose in the air force bought his mom a 2004 GC Special Edition for Mothers Day. Her's is only a 4x2 and when my knees started going out I was determined to save up enough to get one for myself with 4x4. Pretty much need to drive the wife to work when it snows as she refuses to take any chances that she'll mess up her gift. (cant blame her there) and when we get heavy snow I need to be able to get up the mountain to get my 84 year old mom down into town.

I'm looking around to do some weekend off roading when we have a chance. Light stuff since I've had my kicks years ago climbing the sierra's to the old ghost towns, driving across Nevada on the old stage coach lines, and as you so amply stated, did my balls to the walls stuff at your age.

What I like about this community there is a large variety of jeep owners, with different backgrounds who all have the same thing in common - enjoying their rides.

This is why I am thinking about some mods like tuner,CAI,headers, exhaust,180 stat, engine oil cooler kit , a bit bigger TB and maybe a better camshaft but does anyone know how many horsepower these mods will add ?

no way to tell for sure without dyno data, power inreases with be vastly different based on cam and tune for the mods youre looking at. different cams do different things to the powerband and the tunes to go with them. but I would bet on 100hp depending on cam and tune you go with

Look up posts from 90grandwagoneer (he may have a different name on here like Jeepcogman) but he did a cam mod and easily got almost 100+ extra horsepower.

Nice!!! I wish I had the time & money for that mod, working full-time & going to school to finish my BS in Exercise Physiology kills any chance for any quality bonafide performance mods like that. But my time will come eventually, then watch the **** out

The 545RFE on the WK 5.7 Hemis are rated at a Max 500HP so I'd assume the next gen or higher model trans is rated to handle even more.

As I said still a wish list and for that I am preparing myself for a new job with a better salary because that goal is almost impossible with my current job so until then I'm just gathering more info and learning more about these Jeeps ;-)
