Bigger Intake Filter on AIRAID???

Well I had an "oopsie" yesterday with my intake filter....Lets just say Ill need a new one.

Now I'm just curious. Is there any other filters out there that will fit onto the airaid tube, but then are bigger in diameter?

I would like a nice and big intake filter.

Is it possible? If so...Linkie linkie me

Re: Bigger Intake Filter on AIRAID???

I have an Airaid intake arm on my 5.7. Trying to reuse some old parts, i used a filter from my K&N, off my ZJ FIPK kit. I didn't like it....it created too much intake noise up front. I've since switched to a smaller filter (similar to a Spectre size at AutoZone) and the noise is less. You may want to see if you can find one around to try......so you can see what i'm talking about......my 2 cents.

Re: Bigger Intake Filter on AIRAID???

I also have the Airaid and switched over to an Amsoil filter. However my goal was to switch to a dry filter and not a larger one. I think you are going to be limited space wise due to the surrounding airbox. If you remove it, it will give you some more space but with the standard config your restricted. I will say I do like the Amsoil over the Airaid filter. It's slightly larger (taller actually), thus was a tight fit to get in but it did fit with the airbox on.

Here's a picture with the Amsoil filter

To be honest, I couldn't tell the difference over the Airaid filter.

If you stand both of them on the table the Amsoil is taller. Not really an issue as you can see it still fits in the airbox space; however it was a little harder to get on initially on as it starts out much closer to the front case. The top of the Amsoil uses a chrome type finish, thus I needed to be careful not to scratch when attempting to put on. Again, it only when you are initially putting it on and slipping it onto the airbox housing. Once one, there is sufficient space between the top of the filter and the edge of the airbox.

Have you looked at pre filters at all? It would help with in between cleaning and give you a little protection when pulling the filter out to clean it.

Re: Bigger Intake Filter on AIRAID???

If you get on summit you can narrow the results with dimensions like inlet flange id,length, top and bottom dia. etc and see what fits within your size limits.
