BT Catch can install on 07' WK w/ 5.7L Hemi

My nice red catch can from BT arrived a few weeks ago and today I finally got the time to start installing it. The bracket I got is supposed to bolt to an existing spot on the engine according to the directions but I couldn't seem to find it on the 5.7L. Maybe the bracket is intended for the 6.2L? I really wanted to keep the engine cover in place anyway, so I decided to mount the bracket to the air shield of my Mopar CAI. Seems like a good spot, however I might tap a new hole in the bracket and add a 2nd bolt. There seems to be a little side to side play that I'll be keeping an eye on. Since I mounted it further from the engine then called for, the hoses supplied are a few inches short. I'll need to purchase new ones before hooking it up to the PCV system.

Did you bolt on the "z bracket" to the intake shield or somewhere else within the engine compartment?

THe bracket is bolted to the shield. It will most likely need a second bolt to keep it from shifting.

I purchased the can straight from billet tech back when they were offering free shipping. I believe the price was around $150 and the satin ones were maybe in the $125 range. You can certainly find cheaper catch cans if you look around; I doubt you'll find a nicer one at any price.

Went out looking for some air brake hose and found nothing even close at advanced auto or autozone. Napa said they could order me a 25' roll which seemed a bit excessive. Stopped at a local air brake supply hose and was given above 12' of some very heavy duty hose for free as it was sitting in their scrap pile. Some days the Jeep gods are looking out for us Jeepers!

I have the same bracket, I hooked it to a bolt hole near the EGR valve but it's in contact with the valve (b/c it's designed for the srt8) so all I did was shave off some of the bracket to allow clearance... but you'd have to remove your engine cover.

Re: BT Catch can install on 07' WK w/ 5.7L Hemi

I've said it before and I will say it again, if I knew the sweet young thing in my avatar pic, chances are I wouldn't be spending my time posting on JG!

The new tubing is now installed and the can is ready to start catching the crap that use to be sent through the combustion chamber. Kinda makes me feel all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it. The hose was a real bitch to cut and I ended up using a chop saw with a metal cutting blade. The mesh on the hose has some serious steel woven into it and there is no chance this hose is going to collapse or expand! At some point, I should probably get some billet fittings to cover the ragged edges of the hose mesh at the can fittings.

Re: BT Catch can install on 07' WK w/ 5.7L Hemi

I did end up buying a new straight fitting. Don't really know the size, I just took the catch can and supplied hose into the local ACE hardware store and found the one that fit. I want to say it was a 1/2" thread and 3/8" barb but don't quote me on that.
