Yeah I was thinking half shafts, your right (like a front wheel drive car), but what's the difference?

Re: burn out mod

I wouldn't do burn outs at all it doesn't show anything. except that it looks cool. but i would not risk it for a photograph.

What did you smoke this morning? Of course there are transfer cases in the SRT's They are just singe speed transfer cases....You did make me laugh with this one...

Half shafts go from the differentials to the outer hubs/cv joints. Driveshafts go from the transmission/transfer case to the differentials...In most cases. In some cars that have a rear mounted transmission, the driveshaft will go between the engine and the transmission.

Re: burn out mod

I do believe that in the SRT models when you turn them on it automatically puts the transmission into AWD. My buddy has an 07 SRT and when he turns the JEEP off you can actually hear the motor taking it out of AWD. It is like me putting mine into 4LO. If you take the fuse out it probably disables the gears switching from 2wd to 4wd.

Re: burn out mod

Re: burn out mod

You can still do burnouts in an SRT8 without any modification Just not long ones....and it will mess with your TC.

Re: burn out mod

Please do not pull fuses or in anyway try to defeat the AWD in a SRT8 or the 4X4 system in your WK to try to make your jeep into a 2wd so you can do burnouts.

Your transfer case will not like you very well...while the smoke is rolling of those rear tires it is also smoking your Transfercase too as the clutches inside do not fully disengage turning your Jeep into a no wheel drive.

Many have tried this and those that continue the practice are soon buying a new Transfercase.

Re: burn out mod

Err, I can't tell if people are being serious here or not. The transmission has nothing to do with AWD and AWD has everything to do with your differentials.

But this old thread is priceless!
