BWOODY vs Airaid?

I have seen many people looking to switch to bwoody CAI from Airaid. For those folks doing this, why? I am going to put a CAI on and was looking best for performance and money...

Suggestions...and after I add exhaust - do you really notice a difference?

2006 5.7L

Thanks

Re: BWOODY vs Airaid?

Bwoody CAI all the way.

But if you do offroading, switch to the stock intake before wheeling. Also with the B-Woody, be careful with high standing water.

Exhaust? Well on the 5.7's I suggest just switching out the muffler and if you want/dont care about drone then remove the resonator.

On my old Overland, I had a 3.5 Bwoody and a Dynomax bullet muffler with no resonator.

^Windows rolled up.

Re: BWOODY vs Airaid?

Thanks, Whats Drone? Is the resonator after the CC and before the Muffler?

And would this be the one to buy?

That's the CAI you buy:

Its hard to explain drone but it is when you here the exhaust continuously inside the cabin and its like a humming sound going in and out. I didnt care about drone but if you have a family, reconsider it.

The reso is the can shaped muffler right at the end of the exhaust at the tip.

With my old Overland, my mods were:

1.) Bwoody CAI
2.) Dynomax Bullet Muffler and no Reso
3.) Jet 180 T-stat
4.) Diablo Predator
5.) MHP CMR Tune

My best 0-60 was 5.38 and my 1/4 mile time was a 14.2 at 95mph.

Re: BWOODY vs Airaid?

You now have that Silver SRT now? That's Awesome. I had the crossfire SRT6 and i currently have a 300SRT8.

the jeep was my all around vehicle but i have decided to play around with it - not a very mechanical guy, just learning.

I hear everyone has a Diablo Predator...what does it do? change timing, fuel, shifting etc?

is it easy to screw up everything?

thanks - Just me and my 11 year old boy and he loves loud!

Yes that SRT is mine.

Yeap.

It is simple to do. Read the manual and you are good to go.

Re: BWOODY vs Airaid?

I am an airaid owner and I want to switch for three reasons:

1. Like you said, seems like everyone is doing it
2. I want to get super-gloss yellow to match my bwoody sway links
3. It's official, I have a modding problem

HAHA so far my airaid has been great...but I want a yellow woody HAHA

EDIT - here is a link for install...

Re: BWOODY vs Airaid?

well I made the switch...

The BWoody is great...it is def louder than the airaid. butt-dyno is a go as well...seems to have a little more pep/pulls harder through 3K-5500 rpm's...and at WOT it is a lot louder under the hood. The filter does drop down quite a bit, so if you will be off-roading the AIRAID is a much better choice. Since I had both, let me know if you have any questions...I will have videos soon of both to post for comparison
