Re: Catch Can Recommended?

Billet Tech for sure.

5.7l application information

I installed mine with their new "Z" bracket. For a 5.7, the bracket needs to be ground down a little to clear the copper pipe and the can needs to be loosened from the "Z" bracket in order to empty it. That's the only downside. If you mount it anywhere else there's usually enough room to get your hand under the can itself to remove the lower half.

Actually, I gotta get a new one. Before I put on the second can, this one sucked the oil out of the breather and got soaked. So one whole side is useless because its got a coating of motor oil.

I've not done it yet, but Pete gave me some advice and it's fairly straight forward. I'll post details as soon as I get mine. Just deciding what one to go with.

Re: Catch Can Recommended?

i made a cheap catch can for less than 15 bucks. i used an inline air compressor filter from lowes. its clear, the canister unscrews, and also has a stopcock on the bottom to drain it if needed. very easy and simple, anc cheap!

I've played with these, and don't recommend them. Depending on the motor/application it causes the crankcase to be overpressurized. This can cause leaks. A buddy of mine's LSX-based 402 CID stroker motor had one of these, and made his rear main seal leak.

Re: Catch Can Recommended?

i had one on my 500hp turbo G35, as well as several dozen other boosted VQ35 owners, for 3 years and it worked great. just giving a cheap alternative.

dont know how it would cause that. its a completely open design with a small cannister to collect fluid. that is all a catch can does. nothing special or scientific. what i did do, is remove the actual filter that is included, just leave it open.

i highly doubt thats what made the rear main seal leak on a 402CI LSX stroker motor. how did he narrow it down to the catchcan again?

Re: Catch Can Recommended?

I am considering getting a BT Catch can for my 05 WK Hemi but unsure of which bracket is best. Any advise?
