Re: CMR Tunes...

I have the answers...
1. Joe's jeep was waxed with a special wax that I have, it creates about 50% less drag and it feels like the jeep is waaaaay more aerodynamic. Good for 1 sec off of your current 1/4 mile . I'm telling you this wax is better than any CMR tune out there .
2. Joe's jeep lost about 200 Lbs or rock, dirt, mud, grease etc when I cleaned the undercarriage, so it weights less now.
3. And last but not least and most important of all.... I trained the kid...
Any questions???

NX-1 Auto Detailing doesn't just make your jeeps look good, it makes them about a second faster too .
OK I'm taking appointments now to dyno-wax your jeeps .

Is there a "data-logging for dummies" book out there somewhere?

1.) Yes that BlackFire wax is grrrrrrreeeaaatttt stuff. So much more aerodynamic. I can see the air moving now.

2.) True. There was a lot of dirt, so there was a lot of weight reduction. Frankie I told ya man there is at least 20 pounds of dirt. LOLOLOLOLOL

3.) Yes I was trained very well. The apprentice has learned a lot.

Well I did a datalog with these same exact mods and I see that I get around 6 degrees short term knock. Its from the pump gas containing 10% ethanol. And on the 14.255 and 14.599 run, I had pump gas in the Jeep and on the 14.495 I had a gallon of 100 in the tank.

+Rep for you Ryan.
Thanks for the rep.

I don't know where you got the idea that the Ethanol-laced gas is causing your knock. The only effect E10 has on tuning is that the AFR needs to be slightly fatter to account for the ethanol itself. Ethanol as many of you know has alcohol in it....which requires more fuel to complete the combustion process. If you are running on the edge of safe with 100% pump gas, you will run lean with E10. Which will inhibit (although not always be the cause of) knock. 6 degrees seems excessive...I would look into having your tuner add a little bit of fuel. If the Jeep 5.7 PCM works similiarly to the Ram 5.7's, those knock sensors can only pull so much timing to stop the knock...you really outta be careful.

For instance, TMan drives 4 hours to get to the track using cruise control at 70mph!
Again, please take my insight with a grain of salt (because I have no actual experience with DSP/CMR), but yes, PCM tuning does adapt over time. It may not have so much to do with driving style, but there is a learning process any time you make changes to the PCM tables. I thought I read something about CMR software having the ability to turn the adaptives off somewhere, but I can't confirm that.

I would too. One thing I would like to point out is that I do NOT want to step on any toes- and I am certainly not discrediting Tom and/or MHP in saying that your tunes are bad or anything- I know MHP puts out some real good stuff- but I very strongly believe that in order to really dial your tunes in, you need to AT MINIMUM run a wideband gauge to see what your AFR is doing.

Re: CMR Tunes...

Thanks for that advice Ryan.

There is something tremendously different that is causing this discrepancy in times between T-man and I.

Could him having a AirAid, full magnaflow catback (with no reso) make such a huge difference?

One thing that Frankie said was that we both have the same wheels. We do not. He has 18's and I have 17's.

Discuss.
