I recently purchased a 2015 grand cherokee altitude edition with the 3.6 in it. I am looking for a few minor modifications to add a little hp and maybe some better sound. I was looking into the K&N intake kit, but it has a few bad reviews. I am looking for opinions on this kit and any other minor mods. Thanks in advance!

New member here so I apologize if this comes off wrong. I have many years in modding cars on other platforms but this is the first Mopar product I've owned.
My background is more Euro FI applications but as I get older, much older settling down some. Anyhow doing a CAI on any NA platform motor will yield little if any results. So if those reviews were about lack of performance from the CAI then honestly they should have known that going in. If you like the sound the CAI produces and the fit and finish is also to your liking don't be swayed by performance reviews or lack of performance reviews. Personally if you want as little hassle with the dealer and warranty Magusson-Moss issues the Mopar version could be better for you. I won't be modding our JGC much it's the wife's and she already has forbidden me from opening the hood until it's 12 months old.

well on a na platform youll need a tune to go with that intake to really make it effective. other than that there is minimal gains

I don't think Diablo supports 15's yet. I just picked up a 15 altitude for my wife and was thinking the same thing. I just put a afe filter in for now. If I would get anything it would be the afe momentum intake because it's a sealed unit but it's pricey at 450 bucks. Auto part Vehicle Car

i just got the aFe POWER 54-76207 Momentum GT Pro 5R Cold Air Intake System for my 2014 CG 3.6l and i freaking love it. love how it uses the factory inlet above the headlight and that its a sealed unit. i also have a PowerAid throttle body spacer and they complement each other very well. i definitely recommend the aFe CAI. you will be happy with it.

Hi guys saw this post thought I'd put in couple of sents. Just got an injen intake for my 2014 3.6l grand Cherokee. It's fricken deep loud at full throttle but at light, its got a nice little throaty tune. Cruising, its quite-ish but still nice. Can have a convo or w.e still. Neat little thing if your outside hearing it or driver side window down is this quick little TSsss that goes as you shut her down. Like she wasn't ready to stop haha. Very responsive. Idk about u guys but I looked at kn like I have had forever and this is by far the sweetest one.

You've got it right.....any performance gains will be toward the top of the RPM range. I don't know about the 6 cylinder Jeeps, but the Hemi's airbox is capable of supplying more air than the 5.7/6/1 can process. Forced induction and/or NOS fed is a different story, but with a stock/near stock NA Hemi, the basic stock CAI is more than adequate.

On my slightly modified (see signature) Hemi, with a little more than 100 hp. more than stock, I run a modified LX SRT airbox and intake tube, with an AFE high flow air filter. The mod. to the airbox includes an additional air inlet that picks up air from behind the grill. When I run at the drags, I run without any filter in the airbox and there is no significant difference in performance.

Back in July 2013, Mopar Muscle Magazine did dyno tests with and without various accessories. When they did air filters, they first tested with no filter, then with a 3 in. paper element filter (stock type), and finally with an AirAid 4 in. tapered high flow filter. Here's what they found: "Compared to running no filter at all, the three-inch paper element filter robbed our engine of 10.4 lb.ft. of torque and 14.4 horsepower. With the AirAid high-flow filter the engine performed significantly better, only losing 5.5 lb. ft. of peak torque and 5.9 horsepower at peak." Notice that they mention, "AT PEAK", and not cruising around town at lower RPM.

Bottom line though, is to each his or her own. Personally, I couldn't see spending $200-300 on a mod. that really doesn't do that much.
