so tomorrow i will be having a custom intake made for my 3.7..
i went to a local shop the other day, and started talking with some guy, i went for a quote, and to see if they could do it.
he will be making an intake that will have a 3.5 inch pipe and that will lead to the same location it is now, but allow in air from the left side of the grill to allow cold air in to the intake, he told me it would be the best to do that in case i decided to go off roading and get some mud or water where the filter would lay if it was a true cold air intake,
originally i told him i wanted it to extend all the way down and for it to be a true cold air intake taking air from in front of the passenger side wheel, he said he could do it for sure, but he wouldn't recommend it,
i have an appointment to get this done tomorrow, any comments? possible concerns? what you guys think?
Yeah how much? If he's making one for you, You should look into if anyone else wants one here too cause then it may be cheaper for you if you get a few guys to buy too.
well living in Canada its hard to find a good price online or even in stores for simply anything lol, i went to a few places and they quoted me $500 at one place, $450 at another, this guy is gonna charge me $350 out the door, so i don't mind too much, they do good work and its nice to be able to get their opinion and have them help me out..
i saw your post but i hear that the k&n is not a cold air, its more of just an intake, plus i am sure they would end up charging me to ship to canada as always lol,
honestly andrew call autoanything and see how much they charge to ship to canada!!!
there is no true cai for our 3.7 yet... the one you're getting is not a cai either. it is a short ram... you can also get a small tube from the grill and lead it to the cone filter and that is $10!!!!
i would def check to see how much autoanything charges for shipping to canada before buying this custom intake
well that is why i am thinking i should make it a true cai and have it run all the way down, or at least further down then it is now, there is no true cai being sold but that is why i wanna get one made haha,
if it goes down all the way then it would def be worth it, and it would def be true cold air,
even if its 182 shipped like you said, ill have to find a place to install it for me, and its gonna cost at least 100 so roughly 282 in the end,
something not good would happen right? lol, yea maybe ill go down a bit? ill go talk to the guy see what he says, i want the best of both worlds! maybe ill have him make it so i can take off the end part if i ever want to go offroading so i can have the cold air when i just drive, and just switch it up for when i take it off road
no salt is gonna reach up in my grill lol, its just stupid where it is now.. i will be fixing it tomorrow, gonna go back and give them shit, and ask for a 4 inch longer pipe and be on my way!
yea that is the problem, it doesn't sit low enough, they had so much space to work with, and they just tucked it right beside the coolant, so much so the pipes aren't even flush together, they are loose as shit! the cover will be installed and a new filter will also be installed after i fix the farking piping, these guys are just so stupid..
lol troy, winter is approaching so i guess we will see what happens
No offense but that has to be one of the worst custom intake jobs I have ever seen. Hell you could have made that shit yourself for half the price!
Have them make it sit way down. Not past the black plastic on the wheel well though. Maybe like an inch before it ends.
yea bro when he pulled it around i was so excited, like a kid at Christmas, he popped the hood and there it was, sitting so high up, looked like shit i don't even wanna lie, its like i got coal for christmas i didn't want to say anything because it was late, and i figure i would check it out more before i said anything and yea its just. shit..
i am not gonna let them touch my jeep anymore, im gonna tell them to give me the piece i need, and ill do it myself haha
i guess this is what i get for trying a new place and not going to my usual shop
