Re: Diablo 5.7 hemi 87 tune CAI option?

If you can keep your foot out of the throttle you might see a slight mileage increase. Most folks who buy CAI, headers, free flowing exhaust can't.

Headers and install was only 1200? thats not that bad actually? Can the Beast Chim in?

And I've actually seen MPG improvement with 93 oct. gas. Very small, only about .5, but hey, its something

Re: Diablo 5.7 hemi 87 tune CAI option?

i need to sack up and buy a diablo!!! so your overall opinion on the 87 tune is positive? out here in CA we do not have 93 octane...so would I no matter what need to run the 87 tune, or can you run a 93 tune with 91 octance gas???

I cant remember the options, but there are 3 gas tunes... Its 87, 89 or 91 (cant remember) and 93

I remember reading you should be fine running the 93 tune on mid-grade gas. But check out the forums over at diablosport to confirm that

Re: Diablo 5.7 hemi 87 tune CAI option?

can someone tell me why our engine is recommended to run on 89?? (I am referring to a 5.7 HEMI wth mds)...and with the new diablo tune are we running any risk of hurting the engine ie using 91 octane and tune?? I know it has something to do with engine temps but would love some more info...

When you run the 91 or 93 tune, it pretty much adjusts your timing to compensate for the higher octane fuel and get you more power.

They recommend running 89 stock because that is what stock timing will benefit the most from. You CAN run 87 or 91/93 stock, but for the best performance, Mopar says to use 89.

Here is the dyno chart for the 87 tune - (I thought it looked pretty good so I bought it). Scroll down for the chart.
