Holas Homies!
Parker0395 was nice enough to part with his Predator - thanks again Parker! I appreciate the price and shipping! You da man
I have an 06 5.7, running 89 and typically drive on the street - even though I love going off. My jeep isn't a street jeep, so I have it geared as off-road and looking for more "feel and corrected" drive style rather than "fast or speed" performance. Guess I just like a good V8 and want it to take me everywhere
Anywho, a few of the guys have already given me a few suggestions, but i wanted to get some other feedback and discuss this bad@ss toy. I've also been on the DiablosSport forums, but i value these opinions more
First off - i've loaded the 87 tune and:
Raised rev limiters
Adjusted tire size
Disabled MDS
Adjust TPMS lievels
Adjusted boost to +15%
I already see a difference - not huge, but it seems like it woke up my sleeping HEMI. Couple of Q's:
What's the best canned tune?
I'm running 89 and see there's a 91 tune - any bad juju from using the 91 with 89? ( I know - i'm being a cheappo )
I also wanted to adjust for fan settings, but dont see any - am i missing something?
Any other good tweaks or adjustments that you guys recommend?
It has 38k and some change. last oil change was at 37k. I changed the oil today just as a precaution. I will try the 91 tune and see if I get the same indication. My normal driving habits are not to go balls to the wall WOT. But, every once in a while I have to get on it, to merge into traffic. Stupid Virginia drivers don't know how to drive. It's always a competition ... for some reason letting someone merge in front of them is akin to saying you're a big floppy Pu$$y. I guess. So sometime I will stomp on it.
I realize this may be a silly question (or 3) but, did you check the trans fluid? Does it smell burnt? Have you ever changed it? Just trying to eliminate the trans as an issue...sounds more like exhaust....have a sound clip? : )

Not a silly question at all... I thought the same thing... tans fluid was changed at 30k... fluid level looks good, clean... no burning smell at all. I was trying to figure out how to get a video/sound clip of it without having a lot of wind noise also... I'll play around with it this weekend...
Still loving it. So hard to not punch it off the line. Lol. Havent gone to my usual off roading place yet, but soon enough. Then I'll see, but I'm sure it's gonna be tits!!
Oh also, haven't heard any Hemi tick at all since uploaded. Have been only using 91 oct as well, and my mpgs are damn good for a all time 4x4 Hemi!
Again, if you have a DS Predator, get a CMR toona! :headbang:
Changed the EGR, PCV, cleaned the TB and injectors, added the CAI, and the 180 tstat. Also just did the 60,000 tranny service. Next is front n rear diff service, differential service and a new serpantine belt. I'm good to go for a while!!
Muffler should be in next week and well see if anything changes from that add on.
Update: In this 101+ heat my Jeep seems to run a lil smoother MDS on. Didn't like how she was running w it off, so I tried turning it on, and it's better. Maybe takes some load off er something?? The heat is also killing my mpgs lol
LOL I know what you mean. This past week we had a few last days of close to 100 degrees and blasting my a/c on high while driving in the heat just killed the good mpgs I was getting
I have some question as well. I found the diablo on-line for 300 . I'm looking to buy it but , I'm really new to this so . I have questions. Does the custom tunes come with it. I was reading this and I know I have to contact johnas,. I new to this whole thing I dont want to be made fun of . I need this to be briken down to me .. Also I just recieved my K&N air intake .This sat I'm putting this in and also getting a mag 44 muffler put in. Please help
have any of your DS users tried to have something repaired (powetrain related) under warranty? Did the dealer try to deny it due to custom tuning?
I'd love to get a DS but don't want to lose my lifetime powertrain warranty. I'd hate to have my trans go bad down the line and be denied a warranty claim...
Jan ya just tune it back go stock when you bring it in. I have a lifetime powertrain too and they have no clue. Plus they'd have to prove that tuna was what caused whatever to break. You're good to go!
Dunno about that but I would like to know if any tech people cam answer this. Nonetheless, they'd have to prove the toona did it and also there's some law that prevents them from saying "no" to a warranty claim. Just dont know what law it is. Seen it on here before. Lemme search... Regardless you should have a DS. It's really a must have...IMO
Unfortunately, I think custom tuning and altered transmission shift points and firmness would give them an easy out: "more HP, transmission couldn't handle it, shifting wasn't meant to be that 'firm', etc"
...but that's IF they can even tell the ECU was messed with. Any Chrysler techs in here?
Do you guys really think the techs are looking to see if its been messed with? Cmon. Most techs could care less. They deal with vehicles day in day out, they are more interested in getting through their workload than seeing if your trans goes into OD at 50 mph instead of 40.
It becomes a different story if you go in and whine about your trans failing and they start looking at your line pressure, etc etc etc. But for general unrelated maintenance? I wouldnt worry about it.
The techs may not care but everything is computerized now. A lot can be logged in the ECU then read by the dealer. Some dealers will try to weasel their way out of warranty work over the littlest things because warranty work pays less than regular repair work. Why do you think the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act exists?
Of course unrelated things wont be an issue, that's why I brought up the trans. If a transmission goes bad and the dealer can tell you've messed with the ECU, they'd have grounds to deny warranty work. The dealer can tell the last time the ECU was reflashed. Say you reinstall the factory tune, they can tell when it was reflashed, and if that time doesn't correspond to the last time your vehicle was serviced, they can tell somethings up.
The transmission on my WJ went up at 20k, so I'm a little cautious now...
I dont know about gas, but the diesel's have "tattle tales".they show what & how many times something was changed. We're not dealing with 1000ft lbs like some of them are though.
Edit: im talking about the big ones, like the cummins.
Tuning is the same for both. However, the Trinity has extras like virtual gauges, datalogging, TCM support, can read and clear trouble codes, virtual dragstrip, and is easier to use.
So - with gas coming down i decided to get up to the 91oct from 89. I also changed my tune to 91 from 87. It's only been 2 days, but i really dont notice a difference at all. Do i need to unplug the batt and reset PCM? Has anyone else made the switch from 87 to 91 and experienced ANYTHING good or bad? I might go back after a few tanks, if i dont see that much improvement. Thanks!
