Re: dual air intake

Is there any real data on why a dry filter is "better" than the oiled? I have the K&N CAI, and notice when I take it off to clean there is a bit of the oil inside the tube. My cousin claims a K&N filter caused problems with his engine, getting the oil in the intake or something. I am careful how much I spray on now after cleaning it. I notice my filter looks filthy after even a month, ive cleaned it 3 times now and only had it since last december i wanna say. I did notice water was allowed to splash up into where the filter is from an opening in the fender plastic so I sealed that up.

And whats that thing clamped onto the sway bar?

Re: dual air intake

the red can is a Catch can.

but id have to dig it up to find the data..i read through it a long time ago. but the vehicles who get the most problems from K&N are the ones with Mass air flow sensors. it will eventually get oil all over the sensor. but the oiling is an issue as stated before. id really have to dig again to find it all.

Thats exactly what my cousin said, his MAFS got ruined from the oil. But is that to say its because of a properly oiled K&N filter, or because of someone who just sprays the hell out of it till it drips thinking more is better? I just dont see how K&N would still be in business, going so strong of a brand name, if there filters cause an issue like that if "used in accordance with manufacturers specifications".

Re: dual air intake

Yep, MAF issues I've heard of have been from people over oiling the filter.

Another vote for the Bwoody from me.....I bought mine used in silver and had the bends smoothed and then painted House of Kolor Kandy Cobalt Blue:
