Question Dumb Questions From A Newbie

OK, let me finish that! I have been a Jeep owner since 2001 - had a '98 GC, and two 03 GCs. My current '03 has a 4.0 inline engine.

I don't really do a lot of the "fun" stuff (mudding, hills, etc) I frankly like the look and feel of the GC. Additionally, I LIKE having the muscle if I should need it. So, with all that in mind:

I have seen some stuff on eBay and I wonder about it. For example this item http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0QQ...KQ3aMEWAXQ3aIT
really makes me wonder, but for about $12 bucks, if it helps gas mileage, I am all for it. Another item that caught my interest was this chip, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PERFORMANCE-CHIP-JEEP-GRAND-CHEROKEE-01-02-03-04-05-/250877967795?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories &fits=Year%3A2003|Model%3AGrand+Cherokee&hash=item 3a697dfdb3

Again, for such a small amount of money, if it provides even a few MPG increase, why not?

Remember, I am new to this engine thing; I have been a salesman all my life, I have only started getting my hands somewhat dirty! Thanks for the info, folks!

Superchips or SCT for the 4.0 I6.....

Intake exhaust and ported or bored TB are your best bets for mileage adders....No change in octane requirements either...

Re: Dumb Questions From A Newbie

I'm pretty sure JP magazine did an experiment on all those fuel savers and power adders. The contraption to "spiral" your airflow got the most laughs if I remember correctly. In my opinion, don't bother. Save your money for a cold air intake, headers, exhaust, TB upgrades. You'll only get so much out of the 4.0. I've owned 2. Great motors, but they do have their limitations with bolt on's just like any other. Oh, and you may want to check your avatar and your title...it says XJ. Looks like you've got a WJ...
