Re: easy performance mods for a newb

Those pics are not from a 4.0L i6 so don't expect them to match up with what is on your WJ. Things are fairly similar but then again not the same.

Yep. My apologies. I noticed it was a 4.0 I6 and edited my last post

Re: easy performance mods for a newb

For minimal $$$ a ported TB is a good start along with a functional CAI. I *may* be a little biased though.

Re: easy performance mods for a newb

Port the TB, Get a CAI (Prefer K&N), Get a Tune, Later down the road stroke it to a 4.6L or a 4.7L.

Don't buy any eBay crap. Never buy a TB Spacer. Complete waste of money and doesn't do anything.

I was sent a TB spacer by a customer recently and was shocked. It had these huge threads (helix?) that were SMALLER in diameter than the OEM TB bore! It boggles my mind that people pay money for these things, and install them actually thinking they work better.

I'll post some pics when I'm finished with it, right now I have it ported to the same size as an OEM TB.

Re: easy performance mods for a newb

The ported throttle body mod is very nice . Four bolts and unplug I believe three sensors. If necessary transfer existing sensors from the old one to the new one (again very easy and only need a Torx bit). Trust me man, when I mean easy, its easy and I have no mechanical skills.

Re: easy performance mods for a newb

Look into the superchips or sct. Superchips may be the most economical with its canned tunes. I saw one sell on here for $200.

X2 , Superchips would probably help alot

Superchips + colder plugs + 180 stat + CAI + TB (regardless of brand) would feel like a whole new truck
