Re: esp disable

I have not been in my car for 4 days now...does anyone have a way to turn off esp in the cabin (meaning is it an option)? Or is the predator the only way?? I want to say I have a esp button...I will confirm when I get my Jeep back today.

Re: esp disable

I have the ESP button in mine. It's right next to the tow/haul button. As for the predator disabling it permanently I have no idea. With ESP off/disabled it will burn all 4, with it on it only chirps all 4.

Re: esp disable

ESP for those who dont know how/why.

Here it is...

Full Off: This mode is entered by depressing and holding the TSC/ESP button for 5 seconds when the vehicle is stopped and the engine is running. ESP off message will appear in the EVIC. In this mode ESP and TCS, except for the "limited slip" feature are turned off until the vehicle reaches a speed of 40 mph. At 40 mph it returns to partial off, and once below 35 it will again shut off.

And what I mean by that is during the winter I found a nice dirt parking lot full of fresh untouched snow, I tried to do some cookies in it with ESP on and it immediately cut engine power and resulted in no fun, now shut off ESP and bam, spinning around and having fun, real quick till I was on my way again. In the manual there is a section that explains it pretty thoroughly, pretty sure the ABS (pretend lockers) of QT2 are still active regardless of setting. So I would stick with where you have more control of the engine.

I got to where I couldn’t go any further and had to back down. When I tried it again with ESP off only the rear left and right front would spin which is basic 4 wheel drive like the old days before electronics. Also had to back down and start over.

Here’s a site that explains how the system works.

Another thread which already talks about what your asking.

http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums...ghlight=esp+wk

A video showing how traction control works for a Commander which is the same as ours. This one had QT2.

Hope some of this helps with understanding the system and how to use it.

More good info from the owners manual.

Partial Off: Quick press of the TCS/ESP button, when in this mode the TCS portion of ESP, except for the "limited slip" feature has been disabled. This mode is intended to be used if the vehicle is in deep snow, sand or gravel conditions and more wheel spin than ESP would normally allow is required to gain traction.
**Shuts off the feature that causes the engine power to be cut
