IMO on the 4.7, you need a resonator or a reso tip at least. I been thinking of getting the 5.7 reso from magnaflow and slicing it in.
I think you have a good magnaflow. I think you should continue to get the 5.7 reso. It is good.

Re: flowmaster Delta 50 on 4.7L WK

I have a magnaflo and no resonator and it does not drone at all. You hear the exhaust in the background but its by no means droning. My wife and i take my WK every where and it never bothers us and she would make it known if it was bothering her or annoying droning.

Re: flowmaster Delta 50 on 4.7L WK

I ran Borla on both of the 4.0 Jeeps I had ( 97 ZJ and 99 XJ ) and loved them. They were a little quiet at first in my opinion, but opened up nice after I ran them hard. Not sure how Borla will sound on the 3.7 in my 09 WK, but planning on finding out soon.

Re: flowmaster Delta 50 on 4.7L WK

I honest feel that the straight thru mufflers sound better on the smaller engines. The 4.0 has an odd exhaust note as it is and I find that the FM line of muffler just sounds weird. I love the Borla I have on my 04 WJ 4.0. I find that its rather quiet so far. Sounds really good at about 2200-2600 RPMs and has a mild rumble under normal load. Now this setup is about a week or so old and has not been run hard or for a lot of mile yet. I fully expect it to get a bit mroe ballsy as time goes on.

A big X2 there. Every baffel style muffler (flowmaster ) i had on my 4.0 sounded like garbage and droned like hell. I threw the same magnaflo muffler that i have now on my 4.7 on my 4.0 and it sounded amaxing!

Re: flowmaster Delta 50 on 4.7L WK

I think the FMs sound good(if you are into LOUD) on most V8s. I know the FM 40 delta flow with a 3" inlet and dual 2.5" outlets sounded fantastic on my 96 Ram with a 5.2 and sounded even better with the gibson headers I installed a few months later. But the chambered mufflers sound weird on the smaller displacement motors. I did like the sound of the Hooker Aero Chamber I had on a 94 Firebird with a 3.4 V6 and I loved the sound on my 88 GTA with a 5.7. To me that is the best of both worlds sounds great at idle like most chambered mufflers do and also flows rather well unlike the FM mufflers. They also have very little drone but let you know they are they without being obnoxious or intrusive to normal conversation.

Check out Zoomers:

I am not sure how much a resonated tip will do to decrease the drone INSIDE the vehicle. You may have to grab yourself a small race bullet muffler or a short glasspack from a company like cherry bomb to decrease the sound levels inside the jeep. But if a tip will help its going to be Zoomers.

Re: flowmaster Delta 50 on 4.7L WK

Forget the resonator. Just get rid of the flowmaster. They will drone on anything nomatter what other components you use. Look at Corsa or magnaflow. They are quite at low rpm but scream at wot. Also bassani, but I hear it has an exotic car sound to it.

Here is a link to a thread with tons of vids where you can compare the different sounds of different manufacturer. http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115630

Re: flowmaster Delta 50 on 4.7L WK

The Flowmaster 50 series SUV performance is a much quieter and still aggressive muffler, IMO it's the best sounding muffler for the 4.7 in combination of WOT and highway cruising.
