Irfan, how does that sounds? notice a difference while you drive like performance?

i have been thinking about doing that upgrade for a while now,

Not to speak for Irfan, but he did not go to a actual catback. He went with a Magnaflow 10436, aka a 4x22" round case muffler in a 2.5" in/out configuration.

He loves it but he says it is a bit loud. He came to me for suggestions and this is what I selected for him, so I am at fault for picking something that is less than ideal to what he wanted. Hindsight being 20/20, we probably should have gone to a 5x22 or 6x18.

I have heard two sides of having the full catback vs. just an upgraded muffler vs. muffler delete and keeping the reso.

My questions is this ...

If you upgrade the CAI and TB would it be more beneficial to get a full CB exhaust vs. muffler upgrade vs. muffler delete ?
my goal is to make the ride breathe better and keeping quite like it is right now (a slight increase in noise is tolerable but nothing like 4") any input is appreciated ... thanks guys ...

LOL....your opening up a can of worms and your gonna get many various opinions.

It is of my opinion that a full catback is better if you plan on more performance mods.

the piping may stay the same but a good system is usually engineered(per say) to flow better. It usually has a smoother flow and bends. It all depends on the system though as they are all different.

that was exactly my point. the options for the 3.7/4.7 are pitiful. It all depends on what you want and what you are going for.

hmm I am opening a can of worms lol ...

Let me be more specific ... I do plan on doing some more mods some bolt on mods nothing too major (yet) ...

just trying to see what people have gone with and maybe select the best option that would fit my needs ... thank you guys for the great input :)

there is a debate...becasue NO ONE really knows if it does anything but provide a different sound. It may be adding 10 hp and it may be robbing you of 10 hp.

really the only viable option IMO for the 3.7 is have a shop custom bend up an exhaust taliored to your future plans. We can go on for days with our opinions, fuss and bicker....but really in the end we dont know becasue various exhaust, options, mufflers etc. haven't been tested, dyno'ed and tracked to be able to know what is the best. Someone with a 3.7 is gonna have to foot the bill, test and try different options before anyone would know the best option for the 3.7. I challenge you guys----

I am willing to take on the challenge and see what I can come up with ...

Nick @ Air Ram did mention try fitting a custom y pipe and muffler on the 3.7 and try out different options of bend like you just mentioned Scott ... I guess what you say is right at the end going to have to try different options to see what I can come up with ... I will most definitely keep everyone posted on my progress

I want to add one more thing to this thread:

since adding my muffler, i PERSONALLY feel that my jeep drives smoother, especially on the highway.

with my stock muffler the truck used to sound as if it was struggling/limiting itself at 100mph on the highway.

now with the magnaflow muffler i don't feel it struggling and I don't even notice i'm doing 90 until i see a cop and see how fast i am going. The truck def breathes better.

I don't know if i'm gaining or loosing HP, i only care about how my truck drives and it drives better now.

I recently installed the Magnaflow 16631 on my Jeep, and am happy with the choice. I've dealt with Magnaflow on many vehicles, and their product is top notch. Also, since it has the resonator, I don't hear much drone. It's got a mellow idle, a nice tone while moderately accelerating, and sounds mean at WOT.

I bought mine here: http://www.performancepeddler.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=MAG16631

I used discount code "bestoffer4em" and it only ran about $380 shipped. Just thought I'd pass this deal if anyone is looking. I just checked the code this morning to see if it still works, and it does. It's showing $393 now after the discount.

I went with the 5x8x18 on the stock pipes on my 05' 4.7 WK. I just went with the muffler since the catback was 2.5in pipes anyway. The 05' dindt have a resonator so its just the Magnaflow. It sounds awesome, I had it on since Monday and get a lot of compliments, it has a nice rumble cruising, its pretty quiet at idle, almost silent, but when I get on it the thing roars. Im very happy with it and would recomend this setup to anyone.
