Re: Gen 2 4.7l Intake

I do know from the dakota/durango guys that the HO flows better than the stock 4.7 intake mani

Hi Dave,

There is a night-and-day difference. To make it work at minimum you would need the Air Ram Adapters ($$$$), the manifold itself, and some rubber hose to modify the PCV hose IIRC. You also need a large rubber plug/stopper. You will either need to cut into the cowling (don't worry, it can be hidden), and/or modifiy the throttle bracket that comes with the adapters.

The HO manifold is not that great in comparison to the 08 manifold.

Re: Gen 2 4.7l Intake

Thanks Sleepy, I'm cool with everything except the hacking into my Jeep part. You don't happen to have a pic laying around so I could see what I'm gettin into? I'd
probably have to CAI it (next on my list anyway)cause the stock crap wouldn't
fit right anymore. My goal is to try to get Gen 2 hp when I'm done with everything
(Chip,CAI,Exhaust(done)Intake).Since Im starting at about 275 with the exhaust I
think it's doable. What do ya think? Lie if you have to
Thanks Bud

Re: Gen 2 4.7l Intake

I think youd need a good SCT tuner to get the 305 of the gen 2 4.7

Dave,

CAI would be necessary as well, the factory intake will not fit correctly. I ended up making my own 4" intake...Anything less is a restriction.

I do not remember if cutting the cowl was ABSOLUTELY necessary....but it did make things easier. You would definitely have to modify the bracket extensively to make it work, if you were hellbent on not modifying the cowling.

Search for 08 manifold, you should find my thread.

You're pretty much going to need a tune after swapping manifolds. It's OK to drive and all, but WOT leans out BAD especially above 4500 rpm.

305 should be easy with manifold + intake+ retune. I was right around that level right before I sold my WJ, and mine was a non-HO.

Re: Gen 2 4.7l Intake

You can get gen 2 powers with just a intake, tune, and 08 manifold? I figured you would at least need the cam and even then it would be slightly less. I know the Gen 2 has a slightly different ignition setup with 16 plugs instead of 8, does this contribute to the power at all? Right now I have an intake, and muffler, but I would say I've only gained a few HP, I might be in the high 240's if im lucky. Would the intake and tune alone give me an additional 50hp? If so I may do it too.

Yeah I'm already starting with an HO with an exhaust so I should be close to 275 already. All I have to get out of the rest is another 30 HP
