Re: Gibson exhaust on a 5.7L, any videos?

How does the Gibson sound? Is it a full catback?

Re: Gibson exhaust on a 5.7L, any videos?

hahaha that gif...

yeah it's a full catback, all stainless 3" piping.

It's exactly what I was looking for. Not too loud, no droning, but with a nice rumble. At idle it sounds great, but subtle. In-cabin with the windows up, it's surprisingly quiet. Dont get me wrong, you can definitely hear a nice rumble but it's nothing that would interfere with your conversation. With the windows down it's louder but not WTF loud. I think it's perfect.

If you're looking for an obnoxious head-turner from a block away, this isn't the exhaust for you.

Re: Gibson exhaust on a 5.7L, any videos?

It doesn't sound annoying when MDS kicks in?

Re: Gibson exhaust on a 5.7L, any videos?

I wouldn't call it annoying, it's just different. Because MDS kicks in when you aren't giving it much throttle, the exhaust note itself isn't loud. If you don't like MDS, just go into Autostick mode. If you keep it in [5] it's just like [D] but without MDS, at least I think so lol

It's like the stock system. There's a main muffler, which is half the size of the stock muffler, and a small resonator tucked up under the rear bumper right behind the tip.

Re: Gibson exhaust on a 5.7L, any videos?

Can I ask where you got the exhaust from, part number and was it a direct fit or did it involve welding? Im picking up my 06 Overland next week and this is what im looking for.

Also will this exhaust go well with a Bwoody CAI and I was thinking of having the TB polished up by one of the recommended guys here. Just getting started so Im looking for some advice.

Thanks

I got it from http://www.wundercarparts.com/index.html, give them a call, they'll take care of you.

Part #: 617403

It's direct-fit, no welding required. You can install it in your garage with basic tools. Although the bolts that Gibson supplied for the exhaust-to-header flange were way too long. I had to use my own. So just check for that before you get started on the install. It sucks having to stop midstream to make a parts run.

I think it'd go great with a Bwoody CAI. With 3" piping, the Gibson is one of the best flowing exhausts on the market and I know the Bwoody flows equally well.
