Heat and Hood Louvers questions

OK, so I'm no auto performance guy but I do live in hot and sunny Arizona. A few questions:

> Is there any real value in lowering the engine compartment temps through the addition of hood louvers?

> How do hood louvers manage during rainstorms - does the rain pour over the engine?

> Any suggestions on louvers that would look good on a cherry red TrailHawk? No chrome, but gray or black would look nice.

I've been off-road several times and have the beginnings of a nice set of Arizona pinstripes on her. What's a TrailHawk without natural pinstripes? A MallHawk.

TIA!!

Re: Heat and Hood Louvers questions

I have owned a 13 SRT and now a 14 Jeep SRT with hood louvers/vents. On hot days, warm days etc. I can see the heat escaping from the hood vents very rapidly. As far as water....very little if ant gets into the engine bay because each louver or vents has channels that funnel the water away from the opening, down channels and exit the hood in a safe place. This is the current SRT hood. Adding an aftermarket louver/vent may present more of a problem if it doesn't have its own water channels built into the louver/vent.
