Re: Hella tempting.. fastman tb

Those gasses are no good anyway. Diablo recommends Mobil, Exxon, BP/Amoco and sometime Sunoco. Anything in the so called "Top Tier" family is no good. The Hemi does not like their additives (neither do most other knock prone motors).

The truck we tested on has a CMR done by Johan at DS. If he decides to keep the TB on, it will have to be redone. Whether or not that will get the power back is unknown at this time. All thats known is what I posted, that installing a Modern Muscle ported TB lost power on a bolt-on 6.1 Hemi.

As I said in another thread, we will be doing further testing, on my full top end 6.1, early in September when my plugs/coils get here. Right now she's only running on 7 cylinders most of the time, so testing would be useless.

Re: Hella tempting.. fastman tb

Well I'm screwed.. I searched and there isn't a Exxon Mobil station within 50 miles of me and there aren't any BP stations.. just ARCO, acquired by BP in 2000 but they don't take credit cards and the local station has recently gotten in trouble for watering down their gasoline. And Sunoco owns 76 gas stations so that's my only choice on your list.

I don't see how you lost power with a "better" tb, but numbers often don't lie. With the loss of power aside, it looks like the ported TB has a better torque curve.

Re: Hella tempting.. fastman tb

With a larger Tb you're definately going to need to refine your tune...the A/F mixture would be off enough for you to initially lose power, depending on your build. However, the MM unit is not completely bored out to a consistant 85mm or 87mm, which ever you look at. So, I'm surprised that it lost as much power as it did...the TQ curve is an interesting observation. I'm hoping Ryan's TB, properly tuned, will help me realize the full potential of my Eagle intake manifold and increased overlap of my cam. Right now I have a surging problem...it needs more air at idle (cam has 112 LSA) and that will be dialed in next week during some street tuning.

Re: Hella tempting.. fastman tb

I get a surging problem right around 60mph under medium/hard acceleration but not WOT. Looks like no matter what, I'll have to re-tune the Jeep.. not too bad but more than I want to spend for a stand-alone mod.

You need to look at your O2 voltages and/or your fuel trims. You likely have a upstream O2 sensor going bad.
