Re: Help me create a custom exhaust!

Ohhh come on now Hector....lol...you're blowing it wayyyyyyy out of proportion...its only like 12...LMAO!!

I would say....that a system from the cat back, including the muffler, pipe, tip and labor should be no more than $250..less I would hope...that would be my guestimate...I don't know what TX prices are like, but my system with 3" pipe, "muffler", tip and with it taking like 4 hours to get the pipe the bend the right way...was $300....

Thanks Timmy...I know!! You mean the FX35/G35's right?? The are super unique like that because of the way the engine are...lotsa valves, variable valve timing....so on and so forth..I LOVE the way they sound too...getting a Jeep 3.7 V6 to sound like an Infinti 3.5 V6 won't be very likely...unless you swap one of those VQ's into the WK!!

Re: Help me create a custom exhaust!

Jeep 4.0 HO, do a Magnaflow muffler 2.5" pipe all the way back from muffler back, single pipe remove the resonator before the muffler (it will not fail inspection it will not hurt anything at all)

Flowmaster droans and sounds too tingy.

Dont do duals either, My friend has it on his Cherokee with a flowmaster ser 40 and it sounds more like a damn honda then a jeep. He also had all kinds of problems with it rattling and it was a bitch to run the pipes, its even harder on a WJ vs an XJ that has rear leaf springs. Stay single.

My best friend has a 2001 Cherokee, no resonator before the muffler, flowmaster ser 40, 2.5" pipe all the way back single pipe, it sounds good but still kinda tingy.

I had the same setup on my cherokee i had but i had a magna flow muffler and it was nice and deep and throaty w/o the droan and the ting.

FYI, he has the 4.0 Inline six not the 3.7 so its going to have a much deeper throatier sound then the 3.7 has. IMHO the 4.0 has an amazing sound with the right exhaust.

Re: Help me create a custom exhaust!

honestly i have no idea what a 4.0 sounds like with exhaust BUT i have always had great sound (even on a dual exhaust 4 banger) with spintechs... the quality is awesome and the price is right.. 60-65.00 each.

They come in a number of configurations and pipe size.

I can say this 2.5" pipe is plenty for a 4.0 Now if you go turbo 3" might be a better setup....

Get this muffler if you want this sound:

Flowmaster: Truckish and throaty, hollow and raspy at times.

Magnaflow: Smooth, mellow, and deep.

Borla: About the same as Magnaflow, just a little quieter.

There are lotsa other mufflers out there, including Gibson, Corsa, and Dynomax, but the 3 I mentioned above are the most popular.

I'd leave the cat alone, unless you just want a hi-flow cat. Then go with car-sound, which is a Magnaflow product I think.

I had a Magnaflow muffler on my ZJ with the 4.0L I6, and it sounded great paired with the K&N intake. I'm running a Magnaflow on my WJ too at the moment, and LOVE it!!
Question though, which flowmaster series would be good for a deep sounds but nothing too ridiculous?

Any idea how the Flowmaster 50 series delta would sound with no resonator w/ 2.5 pipe? How about Flowmaster 40 series delta? And how do these compare to the Magnaflow catback? Any idea on amount of air flow? And I know you said you don't prefer the sound of flowmaster but is the sound really that bad? I don't want my truck sounding like a honda I would like it to sound like its an agressive Jeep. Sorry to hijack, its just that I've been thinking about doing the same thing and I have a 4.0 as well.

Re: Help me create a custom exhaust!

Flowmaster makes the 4.0 sound like a UPS truck.

I would recommend a Magnaflow muffler....I run a round case on my 4.7.
