Re: High flow cats?

My plans were to upgrade my current exhaust system from stock pipes which are 2.75''? i think.. to mandrel bent stainless steel from the exhaust manifolds back and would of used these ..http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DT...0/?image=large cats since they performed great on my F-body. my muffler is a 2.5 and wanted a 3'' all the way threw. my pipes are rusted and i know i will have to upgrade eventually so figured why not do the cats too and maybe gain a few ponies wile i'm at it. maybe a nice ported and polished TB wile?

Hey Acid, what is the cat setup on the newer 4.7s? Do they just have the 2 cats in the Y pipe, and a single pipe into the muffler?

On the older 4.7s, the piping on the Y pipe was 2", into the merge, then 2.5" all the way back. What I would do if you have the space for it, is enlarge the piping on the Y pipe to 2.5", run a set of Thunderbolt Metallic Substrate (they look virtually identical to the Dynatechs, just 1/3 the cost) cats, then run it into the muffler of your choice. I run a Magnaflow round case (Dreamer1213 copied my setup...check out his vids). 3" piping after the merge for sure.

I have a 4.7 core headed my way soon, if you want something, let me know as I will be seling this core outright once it is ported.

Re: High flow cats?

Yes, they do have two cats before the Y pipe then muffler. is was thinking 2.5 including cats to Y then 3'' from Y exit to muffler to dump since i don't want to run it all the way back. i should get some gain out of it... i hope. the TB will be last and in a few months but thanks anyway.

Re: High flow cats?

Hmm... I got a 3" Hi-Flow CAT to go along with the 3" CAT-back system.

I noticed a fair bit of added power on the butt dyno. How much of that is down to CAT I obviously can't say though since both were fitted at the same time...
