How much will my new tire's hurt performance?

I bought some new tires, the Dueler A/T d695? its a slightly less agressive version of the Revo's, im going from stock 235/65/17 to 245/65/17 basically the size that comes stock on the Limiteds. Will I feel it slugging more off the line with the new tires vs. my old all seasons and will it hurt 1/4 mile times?

I would think an A/t tire will hurt performance just a tad. less street grip and maybe weigh a little more...????? the big hurt will be street handling with its tall sidewall

Re: How much will my new tire's hurt performance?

According to tire rack it looks like the new tires are about 5lbs heavier a piece

or you could just loose another 20 pounds off your body weight to makeup for the heavier tires,,

Haha im underweight as it is. I was thinking that I could lose a few lbs off the Jeep in general but if im right I think rotational weight hurts performance much more than say the weight of the car, so losing a few lbs off the tires, drive shaft etc would be like losing several times more weight off the rest of the car? I was a D student in physics but I think thats somehow right?

Re: How much will my new tire's hurt performance?

you got it, I was going to say your weight doesnt so much matter compared to the weight of the tire that the car has to spin.

Re: How much will my new tire's hurt performance?

The weight of my tires makes a HUGE difference. That's why I switch from winter to summer tires.

I can't spin the tires when it's wet with my MT/R's and I feel the engine bog down, but my summer tires I can light them up when its dry too... I get strange looks doing that though.
