Well it's almost the first of September, and being 95 degrees outdoors in Minnesota I've been thinking of winter. I just ordered a new aFe intake. I love my 4" bwoody, but I want to be able to blast through the snow with my WK and not fear tearing a filter off. I know it's not going to pull the air from the same location, but I'm curious to see how the MPGs are affected. I'll be sure to post some install pictures when it shows up on my doorstep.

keep us posted bro...and I want to see some pics when that aFe stg2 goes in. I have a 4" right now and luckily I live in SoCal so don't really have to worry about it...and I got the drycharger. I switched from an Airaid and have not looked back :)
I'll let you all know as soon as the OOPS man shows up!

You are going to love how it wakes up the sound of the Hemi!!

I did not notice any real change in the MPG.
Thanks for the pics. I already have the BWoody, so I'm not sure how different the sound will be, but being from Minne-snow-ta I had a lot of snow pack sitting on the filter while driving last winter.

I got an email from 4wheelparts they are out of stock on my order so I'll need to wait a week or two for it to show up. aFe had a $20 rebate going on yesterday so I jumped on the order. $248.xx shipped was not too shabby considering how much I spent on the BWoody.

For all the guys who switched from airaid to aFe....how much difference did you actually notice??

I just put my airaid in on sunday, and I love it. I spent atleast 10 hours of my time painting it and making it look like "my own"

However, is it really worth going to aFe?
Hey Klutch,
I had the airaid tube to stock box but getting the AFE CAI intake my jeep rockets away from lights and sound sweet. I was going to get the Airaid intake to add to my tube but they wanted a arm and leg for it so I got the AFE and never looked back. The AFE has a 5 inch tube so it sucks in alot of air.

Just got it installed and took it for a spin. Definitely louder than the BWoody when hard on the go-pedal, so we'll see how it goes. The idle actually feels smoother but that could be all mental. I also noticed it doesn't whistle the way the BWoody did. I'll keep tracking my mileage and see if I notice any improvements. I'm also looking at ordering a Diablo Trinity so the future tune may help also.

I was super smart and cut the breather hose before I installed the engine cover and unfortunately cut off a bit too much as now the hose keeps pushing the cover up the way I have it routed. I left off the Hemi cover for the night and I'll pick up a new hose tomorrow and clean up the install. I need to pick up some Mobil 1 5/20 for an oil change anyway. I also realized how dirty my engine is and will not post pics until I do some cleaning.

They aren't too far apart in numbers really. I wouldn't look for something else when ya went to all the work putting in whatca got.

I chose the aFe based on looks and price - aFe was running a $25 rebate at the time (which took forever to get, but I got it). I went from stock to it and compared to stock, it is a HUGE difference in sound - not sure about performance.

AEM is the loudest IMO because it's made of metal.

I've had the AEM, Volant and Bwoody in that order.. the Volant was too quiet and the Bwoody is just right :)

Yes Sir,

I'm loving it so far, defintely louder in the cabin when WOT, but quieter at idle. I also believe the exhaust note changed a bit but perhaps I'm just hearing more of the intake noise. I picked up some new hose for the PCV to get the engine cover back on and did some dusting last night.

I defintely need to take my WK in to get detailed before the snow falls. I think I have salt in the carpet from last winter. I also need to pick up some Husky Liners, the factory slush mats don't work too well with a size 13 shoe.

Can't say for certain if the aFe will yield real performance gains to justify purchasing after already spending the cash on the BWoody, but definitely worth it to have my filter back under the hood in the winter. There was a lot of snow/ice packed around the filter last winter and don't want to worry about anything.

We've had some major road construction up here and there have been some roads with 6 inches of standing water and I feel like I have to creep through them for fear of hydrolocking from the wake of water. I'm happy with my purchase.

Klutch, enjoy your intake you have now as you've already invested a great deal of time into it. It looks great in orange and you'll never see another one like it. I switched from BWoody to aFe to bonzai snow and puddles :D not because I thought it would perform better.
