K & N cold air intake

Hello I know someone who is selling a K&N cold air intake. I was told it was installed for a few months on his 2004 jeep 4.7L (which is the same as mine) before he sold it. Here is a few pics of it. The filter looks dirty, what do you guys think of its condition, is it worth it to buy it from him?????? I might be able to get it for like 150.00.

Re: K & N cold air intake

Maybe a little less from him. You can either clean the filter from a kit of you can just buy a new one which is like $40-$50 I believe.

Re: K & N cold air intake

ok,, what do u think is a good price for it and are k and n intakes like this one really worth it. I have read soo much controversy. some say it was the biggest waste of money, some say they like it, some say they barley notice anything with it besides a slightly different noise at like 50 mph. what do you guys honestly think?

Re: K & N cold air intake

Do you want it? I mean if you are looking for a littler performance a Air Intake and Exhaust would help. Are you planning on getting an Exhaust?

Ask your friend for $135 and see if he takes it. If not then it's a good price IMO. Maybe someone else knows more about prices than me, but I would buy it.

Re: K & N cold air intake

I know for mine (05 WK 4.7 model) I paid 260ish which was a good deal. Would I do it again? Hell yes. My car feels a lot better and the sound it makes is awesome, i matched it with a Magnaflow muffler and it sounds like a muscle car. I drove it for a day before I put the muffler on and I can tell you the sound the k&n makes by itself is almost as good as an exhaust. It also removes a lot of crap from under your hood including the stock air box and the air resonator that site on top of the engine. Try it out, if you dont like it you could always sell it and get your money back but im sure you will keep it after you try it.

Re: K & N cold air intake

I think these go for well over $200? $150 isn't too bad, since it's used and the filter is dirty either make him clean it with a filter cleaning kit, or get him to knock the price down for you. Then take that savings and go get a new / better filter!

It will make a nice sound, not too much gain on HP, but it looks cooler under the hood than a stock airbox, and like I said it will give you a nicer sound for sure!
