No, and especially on the 4.0 I6. Go to any junk yard and look at the air intake tube/plenum or the air box on any year 4.0 I6. I will guarantee there will be some kind of oil blow by in there. Some people say its the nature of the beast, id like to see a 4.0 with a catch can and see if it makes any difference.

Hmmmm, OK. I ask 'cause there isn't one on my 4.7 so I was wonderin'.

Re: Look Whats In My Catch Can...

Just to clirify fellas......

The main reason to have a catch can is this;

When oil is "breathed" back into the intake tract of an engine and burned via the engine, the oil effectively lowers the octane rating of the fuel you are using. The more oil introduced into the intake, the more effect it has.
Hence, on a high performance engine or anytime you're looking to get the utmost from an engine, using a catch can makes sense.
On an extremely tuned engine, ie, one running very close to it's limits of detonation, oil introduced into the equation (remembering it effectively lowers fuel's octane), will be enough to begina catastrophic series of events for the engine, beginning with uncontrolled detonation and flowing on from there......

Now, there's only a couple of engine's on the forum in my opinion who absolutely MUST have a catch can venting to astosphere instead of the inlet, but I can understand anyone else wanting to try it out, just don't expect a massive performance improvement, it's morer about saving highly stressed engines, which MOST of OUR engines certainly are not.

Re: Look Whats In My Catch Can...

fill up the coolant and drive. maybe something weird happens when those hoses collapsed and it sucked in coolant.........

eventually, it will either surface full bore or go away gracefully
