See, I find the Banks claims to be misleading:

Upon close inspection it becomes apparent that this is just a comparison of the DPF-back aspect of the system, not the exhaust system as a whole. Yes, it is a ceteris paribus comparison they make, but the cited improvement is misleading.

Regarding exhaust systems including a DPF, I found this: Engine Exhaust Back Pressure
Quote:
Figure 1 [not shown in my post] shows the effect of replacing the OEM muffler with a DPF on a heavy-duty diesel engine at two different modes of the ISO 8178 cycle. The change in back pressure is less than 1 kPa with a clean filter. [...] Mufflers generally result in maximum back pressures in the range of 6 kPa. In exhaust systems with a DPF, the back pressure can rise to significantly higher levels—especially if the filter is heavily loaded with soot.
So, a DPF-back system is tantamount to "muffler-back" (or worse, depending on current DPF soot level), given that the principal flow restriction of the exhaust system remains in place. Yes, Banks may have improved flow in their portion of the exhaust system, but their system merely offers a major improvement on a minor aspect. Is that the takeaway someone would have from this Banks graphic?

Re: Mopar performance upgrades for 2014+ Eco Diesel

Yes it has the OFA2 option. Contacted Banks today because the new pipes seem to vibrate a lot, and one of the indents in the pipe to provide clearance for the rear end mounting bracket is in the wrong place, it clears but no by much. They are going to check into ti and get back to me.

Does any body know what the little cans welded to the factory exhaust are for?

Something to eliminate vibration maybe?

The new exhausts looks good but doesnt seem to make any difference in the way it drives so far, and I was hoping for more exhaust sound but it didnt change much

Acoustics engineering: Automotive exhaust harmonics: "There is still the tedious job of finding out how much weight and where to put it."

Presuming your installation is appropriate (e.g. no loose mounts or frame contacts), then the next obvious consideration is an improperly selected resonant frequency for the aftermarket exhaust. If that is the case, then it would have been nice if Banks had corrected that as part of the design of the product.

That's a full replacement, would be interesting to know what it sounds like without the mufflers.

Re: Mopar performance upgrades for 2014+ Eco Diesel

I am looking into an alternative system through a fellow forum member in Vic, at around half the price.
Will keep you posted.

Feel free to PM me for more details.

Re: Mopar performance upgrades for 2014+ Eco Diesel

Iv had the Banks monster exhaust on my 15 Overland 3.0 for about 2 months now but havent noticed any preformance increases or any increase in the sound

The exhaust does vibrate alot and Ive had to make several adjustments to stop it from hitting the skid plates and brackets. Contacted Banks about this and they are still checking into it. They designed this system on a 2014 and an indent on one of the pipes is in the wrong place which makes the clearance issue even worse. Maybe a small change was made in the 15's. It looks great but no apparent preformance gains and its still too quite for my taste.

Ill keep on Banks about this vibration problem and hopefully they will do something about it. Ill let you know.

Has anyone removed the rear resonators as it seems when these are removed your Turbo spools faster & you actually make more power & torque?

Re: Mopar performance upgrades for 2014+ Eco Diesel

Trailhawk has an association with a company that will hand make an exhaust to suit the WK2. They make it on your car.
It has no mufflers.
Waiting for a guinea pig to try it before I take the leap.

In the meantime......found this on Youtube....

Cheers, Craig

Banks sent me a new Y pipe for my system but it was the exact same piece. I modified the indented area of my original pie with a small hammer to make more clearance for the rear end support, reassembled and adjusted, still vibrates and shakes but doesnt rattle anymore.
