No harm no foul indeed. However, to call an emissions state like NJ a "police-state" and refer to swapping out catalytic converters for hi flow units as a "extreme mod" is a little rediculous. It would seem that he is talking at least partially out of his scope of knowledge. Not a big deal at all, but it's just not accurate in this particular case.

I haven't run through inspection with these ones, but my 2.5" Carsound hi-flow ceramic cat /Magnaflow muffler setup passed through NJ without issue.

Basically, so long as your exhaust doesn't wake up the dead due to noise, and if you have what looks like cats on your exhaust, you will be fine.

Re: o2 sensors for cats

Irfan, there would be gains...but for your purposes, you're just better off replacing strictly the muffler.

Re: o2 sensors for cats

So...if I have a CAI, I'm going to be getting my TB ported and polished, I have an aftermarket muffler, and I'm looking for the best performance possible - is it a good idea to get a pair of these cats? I'd hate to spend so much only to get decreasing marginal returns when there's still a cat stuffing up the process. I'm concerned with o2 sensors but know nothing about them.

In addition, is there anything apart from what I've already mentioned that I could to to get any more out of my engine (hps and mpgs) without spending $2k on a supercharger? And please none of this "its a 3.7, why bother?" Why bother? Because this is the vehicle I'm going to be keeping for as long as it will run so I'd like to get the most out of what I've got.

Re: o2 sensors for cats

bro i'm in the same boat as you. i'm sure you can tell since you've seen me ask all the questions that you are asking now...

you have the intake and muffler, get the ported TB and call it a day a tune is at least 350 plus a spare pcm....

Wish this boat would stop leaking! Get close to finding another place to improve then get set back by possible complications. $70 for a set of cats isn't bad if it frees up a restriction point in the exhaust but idk how "high flow" the stock ones are compared to the Thunderbolts.

Tune may still be a possibility if I can be assured I'll get some worthwhile improvements
