Re: Official CAI/Exhaust Thread!!!!!!!

I have run into a decibel/budget issue. I recently had some engine work done on the hemi, and now it sets car alarms off when I start it. I need ideas on making this thing shut up. I am coming from dual three inch pipes at the transmission crossmember, and the current setup of a dual 3inch in/out magnaflow necked down to two 2.5in pre-axle dumps is laughably inadequate. I want to preserve the tone and flow as much as I can, but kill all the loud, and I'd like to do it before the axle, or as inexpensively as is possible going over it. The big budget idea is a magnaflow 12595 muffler to an over axle 3.5 inch pipe.

Re: Official CAI/Exhaust Thread!!!!!!!

My rig is now ungodly loud, and I need to make it quiet. I have exhaust coming from two 3 inch pipes, and I want ideas on how to take as many decibels away as I can without spending a grand doing it.

I got the muffler, and it's better than this now, but still loud as hell.

Dude you never mentioned you had a stroked and cammed engine with LT,
I mean shit even with a dual set of mufflers it's going to be loud. You added that single in dual out magnaflow so just run some pipes or pipe out the back and throw another 14 inch muffler before it dumps out the rear of the truck.

Sounds good though

Re: Official CAI/Exhaust Thread!!!!!!!

I'm actually running that muffler as a dual in single out right now, and it helps a lot, but it's still pretty hard to hear the radio, and impossible to hold a conversation at anything but idle. I'm going to put another muffler in after the axle, I think you're right that it's about the only way to get it down to where it's acceptable. This exhaust is going end up costing more than my valvetrain. No one makes good 3" short mufflers, it sucks.

Re: Official CAI/Exhaust Thread!!!!!!!

If I do that, I'll do the entire interior, and it is a good idea. As far as long term plans go it's on the list, but I travel too often for work to get that done in the available time, it seems like it's more of a three/four day project to get everything situated under the carpet.
