Part throttle upshift - Predator - U7137

I've done a little reading and decided to mess with my part throttle upshifts.

Basic settings:
Canned 91 octane tune
MDS OFF
Rev Limiter +600
Speed Limiter 190 :)D)
WOT 1-2 @ 5800 rpm
WOT 2-3 @ 5800 rpm

I don't know why I haven't done this earlier but I think I really honed in the settings and let me tell you all.. I don't know why I haven't done this earlier. The shifts are better and the RPM range has improved dramatically. I just set it to this setting last night and I personally feel that these are optimal settings for everyday driving. You can adjust them higher if you want harder shifts but this is where I left everything and I'm really happy. I don't know yet if this hurts or helps fuel economy since this change is relatively new, but I will update with my observations.

Just incase anyone would like to know, in the part throttle upshift section of the predator.. "APP" 'means accelerator position percentage'

Part throttle upshift settings:

1st - 2nd
15% 1800
25% 2200
33% 2800
40% 3000
60% 5000

2nd -3rd
10% 1800
20% 2200
30% 2800
40% 3000
60% 5000

I just wish that the U7137 offered part throttle downshifts. I recommend that people sit with their tuner for a little bit and try it out, tweak it and have fun. Because that's what it's all about !!!!

(disclaimer: I accept zero responsibility, use at your own risk :))

I'm not sure if this affects tow/haul mode (since that already changes the shift points), but I'll report on that later after my Sunday drive.

I couldn't be happier. And I honestly "feel" that the tow/haul button is less effective than this setting... still too early to tell for sure but initial tests are telling me that the Jeep likes the adjusted parameters better than tow/haul mode.

I drove 15 miles down the hwy with cruise control on (moderate elevation changes) and was able to get 18.7 mpg with MDS off and the wheels.. it's an improvement (for this drive) but like I said, I would need to go through a full tank to see actual benefits.

I notice mine, even with the mobil 1 so sometimes I leave it off and Brad's right, what's the point around town? Maybe on a road trip where it can best be utilized but MDS just takes away from the daily driving experience :)

I have a problem though! I turned my MDS OFF* and it still activates :(. I'm trying to get a CMR Tune. I have to Data Log. I'll try out these numbers on Monday.
Dude all I can say is she's like a rocket now!! I'm super serial. Haha

Try reloading the tuner and turn MDS off. I had to set my tires perimeters and pressure sensors twice ;)

On a side note I'm gonna charge Ryan the extra money I dump on gas trying to race everyone. Haha jk bud. Thank you for doin the research on this tune.

Here's my weekend assessment of the Ryan Toona

I love it!! Not only does this wake my tranny up, but it also just drives more efficiently. I def love how much better timed the upshifts are. I don't have a mpg assessment yet due to me having an extra heavy foot this weekend. Haha I raced and beat an 06 mustang and that was awesome! Woot! The only thing I notice is the tranny kicked in a lil harder than normal. Gonna keep my eye on that. Anyway! Thank you, Ryan for doin some research on these parameters and the Diablo! So far I'm loving it and recommend it!! Cheers

Re: Part throttle upshift - Predator - U7135

Does this help the bad shifting at 40 mph and passing at that speed. My 5.7 is slow down and I have to punch it to pass at that speed Like a hestition.

I doubt that it will help at 40mph, for chances are, you're already in 4th gear and the throttle perameters in the Predator are only from 1-2 and 2-3rd gear. At 40mph, you're probably in 3rd and will shift into 4th quickly. If you're in 4th, you'll have that dreaded lag in performance, which requires extra throttle to get out of.

There's a campaign on Diablos forum to finish the perameters for our vehicles and include 3rd-4th and 5th-6th gear shifting...I'm not holding my breath:rolleyes:

Neither am I. Like amw5 said, there is still a soft spot around 40mph but this tune definitely helps out a little bit.

It should be available on the trinity. The max rpm I set mine to is 5800 I think

I called you back. Just got back from the dealer after installing the tune again. I had a coupon for 4 x 4 service so I had.the front, rear diff; transfer case fluids changed at 84 k miles. Installing the original backup takes long enough, but entering the parameters takes a minute, too. I'm on my phone to pull up this thread and I decided to see how much I can type while the original backup loads.
I'm sitting next to a ferrari 512 tr in this parking lot, black, very sexy.. I need tapatalk so I can upload pics... Sigh 80% uploaded.

I wish I could save the stings in the tuned... Has anyone adjusted their rpm levels from my posted tune? Some input on one two shifts would be great. Are they too hard, soft... If they're too hard, lower the rpm at the 15%, 30% levels for a better commuting transmision, so to speak.. if you want to raise the rpms, mind your transmission bc it will be under more strain. I recently raised the done and it did give the jeep that jackrabbit feel, but it wasn't proper for daily use. So please tweak with it if you trust yourself and report back, then we can collaborate and fine tune the .... tune... Instead of data logging info and sending it off.:)

From personal experience, dont mess with the idle. I did to raise it up some and i couldn't shift out of park without some funky thing happening ie a surge in done and I shifted into drive and when in drive, it felt like I was in four Lo. Not recommended.

I also heard that messing with the spark is a no no, don't ask me why, a lx owner told me such one day at the track. But what about adding or removing fuel at wot? Are there any benefits to that?

The performance tunes preloaded by Diablo do several things among these items they advance your spark timing (very slightly) and remove fuel (very slightly). This makes the Jeep a bit faster. Don't go crazy removing fuel and advancing timing or you will need a new engine.

Unless you have a way to monitor and log these items (wideband and a realtime datalogger) I would not mess with them to much as it can destroy your engine.

Adding fuel at WOT will make it slower if your stock or somewhat stock as it is probably already fat from the factory.

Now if you have some engine mods done... cam, heads, longtubes, stroker your going to have to have it custom tuned.

Being F/I I have to remove timing and add fuel exact opposite of N/A. If I used the performance 93 tune I would be needing a new engine....lol.
