Performance Upgrade recommendations

Ok... here I go with needing some more advice.. Prior to finding this site I had already Place an order with Summit Racing for the Jet Stage 2 Chip, MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust, And the Jet 180 Thermostat. This was to all work in conjunction with My K&N intake that I had installed when I first purchase my Jeep... To ,y knowledge those items had been shipped out and I had just resound myself to the fact that I was just going to go with that setup rather than mess with trying to return it or sell it on ebay or here. Well, I have been sitting here waiting for my order to arrive, which seemed to be taking forever, and decided to call Summit to see what was up. Well, to make this already long explanation short I apparently never hit the "submit" button on my order and therefore have nothing coming. So, I thought this was a fantastic opportunity to ask those of you with first hand experience and knowledge to help me put together a package with proven performance. I have read through some of the posts and have been made aware of all kinds of options that I was perviously unaware. I am totally new to the automotive industry and just am not that familiar with the products and manufactures that I have access to. You help and advice are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Performance Upgrade recommendations

Question. Why would you install all of these "performance" upgrades, and then cancel the gains of said performance with a set of heavy wheels?

That being said, I would do exhaust work (just a muffler with a resonator delete- catback kits are a waste of money), intake (Bwoody or the ARIA units seem to be the hot ones to go with), and a Diablosport CMR tune. You'll need either a wideband air:fuel gauge or a dyno session to properly set up the CMR tune.

I dont want to plug myself but I am a vendor here- I sell ported throttle bodies. I have done 1 5.7 Hemi throttle body and while I could tell you what he thinks of it, I'll let him give you the scoop. PM him, his ID on here is Hemibeast.

Re: Performance Upgrade recommendations

Answer: Appearance and Style is what I am primarily going for, not race track times. That being said....i would still like to get as much performance out of the configuration as I can.

Re: Performance Upgrade recommendations

Don't get Magna flow cat-back. It does not upgrade exhaust diameter. I have a magnaflow muffler with the resonator on. Best way to go IMO because it is quiet at idle and aggressive when on the gas. Save your cash for another mod. I also have a Jet chip. It is OK, but wish I had waited for the "Predator". Good Luck.

Re: Performance Upgrade recommendations

I would go with a Bwoody 3.5" CAI, full 3" catback with free flowing muffler, Diablosport tuner w/93 tune, 180 tstat....and then you can add more from there. Cam, 6.1 top end and so on.

Dont listen to ryan on the big wheels...he's a big wheels hater. Not everyone is just worried about 1320 ft. Some of these guys may be able to take me in the 1320...but I would hand them their ass in the twisties, skid pad etc. Theres more than just 1320 ft. You will have a very well balanced WK with the slight performance mods listed and the suspension mods. One that I personally would rather have than coming on here and bragging about going straight 1320 ft. My god...mash the gas and go...not very fun in my book. JMHO.

Re: Performance Upgrade recommendations

ditto to what scott said.......

since you already ordered the magnaflow, it wont hurt that much.

the only thing I would return of your purchase is the chip. they dont work, get overriden with the adaptives. the diablo supports all years of the 5.7 now.......that the way to go.

That my fellow Jeepers, is why Scott is the man! He is right on about the exhaust diameter upgrade. The Magnaflow is 2.5" which is the same as the stocker.

6.1 top end????? Scott can you fill us in on this? Shouldn't qualify as a thread jack because I am sure Blimby wants to know also.

Re: Performance Upgrade recommendations

Hey Scott, any possible benefit down the road if I went with the 4" CAI at Bwoody depending on where all the MODS lead me. On the same note will I be doing any harm with 4" if this is were the mods end. whose exhaust would u go with?
