Re: picking a muffler for my wk

from what i understand flowmaster muflers use baffles and magnaflow is more of a free flowing glass pack. i know flowmaster is louder during idle, where as magnaflow is pretty quiet at idle until u throttle. i have also heard of people losing power and gas mileage with flowmaster with the oppisite of magnaflow. soooo i have had both and fopr now on will only use maganflow!!!

Re: picking a muffler for my wk

I went with the 18in magnaflow in stainless for my 4.7 it seemed to be the most popular and I am VERY happy with the sound.

Re: picking a muffler for my wk

i had an 18" magnaflow and took it off for being to loud in cab, it roared at 70mph.i replaced it with the 5"x11"x22" magnaflow and have been very happy.sounds great at 2000-2500 rpm and when you get on it but is fairly quiet a cruising speeds.i have a wife and 3 kids and it doesn't bother them.if you wanted an inbetween sound go with the 5x8x22 magnaflow.use your stock pipe 2 1/2 inlet 2 1/2 outlet.mine is offset inlet and center outlet if i remember right. i bought the universal muffler and got it installed for under $100. great mod for money.i also have 4.7L engine

Re: picking a muffler for my wk

Flowmasters are great but drone really bad on the 4.7 and 5.7. I have a magnaflow and i love it, its loud and deep and burly sounding but it does not drone at all.
