Re: srt8 rear sway bar on 5.7

Eh, the sway bar is more a performance mod. Off roaders unhook there sway bars all the time. I could remove it all together and not really mess up my suspension, but would prob handle like crap on roads.

True true, but not having one is also diff than having one that doesnt fit quite right, and yeah i couldnt imagine taking turns on the street without it. ha

Re: srt8 rear sway bar on 5.7

I was always on ebay and other sites looking daily for mods, but now its to a point I have so many things I still have yet to do to my WK, everything just sitting in a box waiting to be installed or done. Right now because of christmas and some extra money I got for gifts im up in the air if I want HID's for my fogs or the rear sway bar. Im thinking HIDs in the fogs would make me happy right now.

Re: srt8 rear sway bar on 5.7

I am in the middle of installing an SRT8 rear bar on my 07' WK and have a couple tips for those who might be thinking about doing this themselves. First, you will not be able to do this without removing at least one rear wheel. Just ain't enough room to work the bar out. Second, might as well jack up the rear end on stands and remove both wheels as it makes it a lot easier to remove the nut holding the links to the bar. On my WK this required the use of an 18mm wrench and a 7mm socket to hold the rod end that the nut threads on to. Third, you are going to need to raise the body up or let the axle droop to get the old bar out and the new bar in. If the full weight of the Jeep is sitting on the axle (as it was with mine that had the jack stands under the axle) things are just too tight.

Headed back out to install the SRT8 bar and hopefully make a short run to see how much it improves the cornering.

Re: srt8 rear sway bar on 5.7

I struggled with attempting to remove the old bar for a good 10mins before I decided to lift the Jeep up at the jacking point in front of the passenger side of the rear axle. It didn't raise the body all that much but the bar came out in about 5 sec. All those twist in the bar need a little space to pull it out.
