Nope. For the 5.7 and 6.1 Hamze, on the stock exhaust near the end are 1 (5.7) and 2 (6.1) resonators that are there to control drone. They are shaped like canisters and they are straight thru, not chambered.

Removing the cats is a totally different thing. Yes they reduce noise but they are not a resonator, they are located near the front of the vehicle around the engine. You take those off well you'll get a CEL and the fumes will be really smelly, like unburned gas. But hey its up to you.

Re: Straight pipe?

I would not remove the cat, I actually somewhat like the environment... But idk I've looked at the dynomax bullet and I'm between that or no muffler or reso at all. Maybe get a friend to chop the stock muffler and reso and see how it sounds. After a few days decide if I wanna put the bullet muffler on.

Thanks for the info bro! i have the 3.7L and i will remove the cats soon... thanks god they dont have to do anything with the drone!! lol

as for the check engine light, i am currently fabricating some spacers for the O2 sensors.. i will move them away from the cat so they dont read the high flow... the computer will be tricked and i hopefully wont have a Check Engine Light...

Hamze, be aware that the cats DO affect drone to a certain extent. The WK as I understand it is a little better at dampening sound than the WJ is, but you should expect your exhaust to be substantially more resonant with the cats removed. Will it be bad enough to make you re-consider? Maybe not, it might not be an issue, but I can tell you from first-hand experience that the cats do have an affect on drone.

Re: Straight pipe?

I had a 97 ZJ with the 4.0L I6 that I had removed the cat from and gutted the Borla muffler. The drone was a tad too much. I fabbed the spacers for the O2 sensors. Never did reinstall the cat on that ride, but probably wouldn't remove it again ( made it a lil rough sneaking around ).

If you get drone inside the car just lay on the soundproofing really thick. . I put down ALOT of soundproofing in the cargo area, cargo door, under the rear seats, and all the doors, and its really quiet inside. I was waiting for the warmer weather which is finally here to do a nice undercoat.
