Sway bar diameter

Ok, so about 3 weeks ago I put the front and rear SRT-8 sway bars in my Jeep. It's not until recently that I've been able to drive in a manner to really see if there's any difference from the old ones and to be honest I'm not noticing much, if any difference. The rear is better, and I could tell the new bar was thicker and heavier. The front however doesn't seem any better. The old and new bars had less than a 1/16 of an inch difference in diameter and the weight was so close i couldn't feel a difference. Could someone tell me what the diameter of the front bar should be for both stock and the SRT bars? I also couldn't use the new front bushings i bought because they would require new brackets, but the old bushings and brackets worked just fine.I'm thinking maybe i just replaced my stock bar with another non-SRT bar. I've double checked the part numbers but I'd like a second opinion.

Thanks guys!!

Re: Sway bar diameter

when i got mine from Mike (downstate) he shipped the brackets and bushings...when I installed it we tried the stock bracket/bush on one side and we could not get it to tighten properly....NOW I have read others using stock setup and the SRT bar fits in the front, but for others it did not. Also, the bars are very close in size (1/16-1/8 is about right), and the SRT8 weighed 2-4 pounds more. hope that helps...I thought they were the same too...but the brackets and bushings were not the same, and upon further inspection the bars differed too

my setup tightened up with the bwoody sway links...so i cant say for sure which one tightened it up more

Re: Sway bar diameter

the front SRT bar is solid...the stock wk bar is hollow. The newly designed for 09(I think) bushings require the new style brackets

Re: Sway bar diameter

Wouldn't it make sense that the solid bar of a slightly larger diameter be noticebly heavier than the hollow one?

Re: Sway bar diameter

I feel the same way, I used the same mounts, but new bushings and they fit.

They werent too noticable different in weight, but again i too added endlinks that are twice as thick and did it all at once so I see a huge difference
