Re: Thinking about this intake

Might as well, I was just going to throw it away anyways, put it on ebay for a 7 day auction with starting bid at like $30 + shipping with a buy it now of $50 I think, the guy who bought it was in a rush because he was leaving his hotel at the end of the week, he even paid extra to have me 2nd day it, that was alot just for shipping but he paid and I got my money no problem. The intake i'd sell with the car when I get rid of it later, all my other mods I keep all the stock parts to put back on then sell the aftermarket parts on ebay. Prob make more money that way.

Looks good. I have access to Venture aluminum tape at construction sites, its used to wrap duct work and says its good for 300 degree temps, which the tube would prob not see that high. Im going to wrap my tube in this stuff then, see if it makes a difference since I have a few rolls of it at home.

I also have a few rolls of this aluminum tape made by Ideal Tape Co, I think the specs are similar, since its made of aluminum im sure it can withstand high temps. Im lucky to be on construction sites everyday and just grab stuff.

Give it a shot and see if it works. The cool tape is fibrous so it adheres really easily but looking at the link you showed me, the roll you have might not stick as well, but that's just my educated guess.

Duckman probably over oiled his filter, that's why AEM is great b/c it's a dryflow filter; it doesn't need to be oiled.

Re: Thinking about this intake

Im telling ya, if you have an oiled filter just spray on enough oil to get an nice even coating then rub a clean cotton rag all around the filter to remove any access oil. My tube has been dry since I started doing that after cleaning and oiling it.

Re: Thinking about this intake

I have never had problems with oiled filters on past cars. Arent K&N oiled filters as well? im not sure why an oiled filter would cause those problems.

Re: Thinking about this intake

IF it's over-oiled, then it easily can.

Re: Thinking about this intake

Thats right, its not the oiled filter causeing problems, its the person putting too much oil on it thats the problem. Think about it, if oiled filters ruined motors then K&N wouldnt be such a big brand name. Thats why they have disclaimers, to prevent the morons that will just dip there filter in a tub of oil instead of following the recommended instructions.
